Ok Disney, we need to talk.
How could you! What possibly possessed you to replace the iconic Disney Quest with 'The NBA experience.'?! What does the NBA even have to do with you?!
Disney Quest was such an awesome location with all the arcade games, flying Aladdin's magic carpet, Buzz Lightyear bumper cars, learning how to draw characters, a white water rapid simulation and so many other things. The best part was that it was all in the AC, so after dying in the heat all day, and when you weren't ready to call it a day yet, you could go there for a few hours and continue the fun. The best part about going there after the parks was that it was so big you could go there multiple days in a row and still not have done the same thing twice!
But you wanted to replace all that... With basketball... did you leave your brains home the day you made that decision??
While we are talking about your descent to insanity, let's talk about some of your other boneheaded moves.
Maelstrom, the boat ride in the Norway Pavillion. Replaced with a Frozen ride. OK, I get Frozen is popular, but Maelstrom was such a classic! What does Frozen have to do with Norway anyway?
Studio Backlot Tour, which featured plenty of interesting props from beloved movies. For years, you never even did anything with the location! It was a walking tour so it couldn't have been too hard to maintain. Why feel the need to close it?
Skyway was a gondola attraction that carried guests between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Let's face it, it can be a long walk from one section to the other, especially with young children or on 100 degree days. All we want is to sit our asses down and be carried to the other area of the park. Is that too much to ask for?
Snow White's Adventures. Yet another classic gone too soon... to be replaced by Princess Fairytale Hall. I am not even sure I want to try to figure out why you thought that was a good idea.
Stitch's Great Escape, and before that, ExtraTERRORestial Alien Encounter. This interactive theater always proved a good time and I could understand repurposing it into another interactive theater that would bring just as much fun... but you are repurposing it to a Character Greeting location. Don't you have enough of those already? What a waste of a great space!
Primeval Whirl, a classic Wild Mouse coaster. I've always thought you can't have a park without the classic wild mouse, and this one was such a good version of it since it had spinning cards too. You don't even know what you are replacing this ride with!
Honey I Shrunk the Audience! What a great play on a fantastic movie. It's just too bad that this was another one of the casualties of your lack of common sense.
The Great Movie Ride, a dark ride recreating iconic scenes from classic films. It was the last attraction still operating from when the park opened when it closed in 2017. Is nothing sacred to you people?
The Wonders of Life Pavilion at EPCOT, especially the iconic Body Wars narrated by Spock himself! These were awesome attractions. What makes matters worse is you closed it over a decade ago and still haven't done anything with the spot. Really, Disney!
Delta Dreamflight taught guests all about the history of flight until it was replaced. OK, I can't really say anything too bad about you getting rid of this one because I like what you replaced it with. Still, an iconic ride that often makes it to the list of stuff people missing.
Horizons - Alright, this is another one I can't really say anything too bad about getting rid of it since you replaced it with Mission: SPACE, which has turned into an iconic ride in its own right. This is another one with a large following of people who miss it and want it to come back, however.
There isn't much I can say about Flying Saucers, great idea, terrible execution. Despite all that, it still has a loyal following of people who want to see the ride back. Given the technology advancements, this is one of those rides that should be easy to bring back better than the original ever was. Why haven't you done it? Too busy butchering everything?
Now we need to get into your half mistakes and future mistakes.
The major half mistake is what you did to poor Figment. Everyone loved that iconic, little purple dragon! You revamp the ride... and he is gone... poof... How could you do this to the poor little guy?! At least when people started to throw a fit, you learned and brought him back... sort of. It's no where near as good as the original, but it's still Figment. So, I guess I will forgive you... for now... at least until you ruin this one too.
And the mistake you just announced. Repurposing Splash Mountain into a Princess and the Toad attraction. One of the three iconic Mountain rides at Magic Kingdom. The three have almost always been linked in mind because of the "Mountain" in the names. It's bad enough you are changing the one. You better not be planning on changing Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain too!
Really Disney! Stop ruining the classics!
