Letter from the Editors
- a dragon, a feline, & a wolf

"The garden reconciles human art and wild nature, hard work and deep pleasure, spiritual practice and the material world. It is a magical place because it is not divided." - Thomas Moore

With Autumn almost upon us, it's a good time to think about the magic of nature, the harvests we can enjoy and appreciate all the greenery that makes our world function. Whether it is the wormwood in our potions or the lavender in our healing balms, we wizarding folk cannot do much without the flora that grows all around us. So, for this SOUP issue, we will be shaking the trees and enjoying a few wonderful moments in our Herbology gardens and greenhouses.

Needless to say, not all of our writers were excited as there are very few naturally green-thumbed individuals among us. We all did our best, though, and luckily, the office was spared a deluge of potting soil and those pesky seeds that stick to your clothes for eternity. The only hiccup was a minor incident between a biting book and a somewhat delicate pile of parchment covered in pressed flowers. We Editors are yet to discover who was to blame for that. But have no fear! We still have plenty of articles for you to enjoy. So dust off your hands and get ready to tiptoe through the tulips with us!

Before you take a wander down the garden path with us, you should definitely check out the SOUP Playlist to get you in the mood. Our tunes will be the perfect accompaniment to all the latest goings on in the House in our News *Noteworthy and Legends Among Us pieces. Next, you may want to check out this month's for a breath of rose-scented air with the featured personalities. Finally, don't forget to pick up our Book club story of the month. It's bound to leave a smile on your face!

Did we mention shaking the trees? That turned out not to be the best-ever plan, regardless of whether it was metaphorical (as wolves and felines intended) or literal (as dragons mistook it). Okay, so the Whomping Willow sapling objected to the temporary relocation into the SOUP writer's room. Violently. Suffice it to say that it is the leading suspect in the Biting Book Incident. Now, figuring out who thought shaking a Whomping Willow In Training in the first place would be a good idea? A certain dragon was spotted hiding one wing behind her back. Whether that was related or not, she has refused to say. Tune in next time to see whether the fallout from the whomping has additional unforeseen consequences!
