Legends Among Us, 2.0
- Sally the SOUP Snake

Hello and welcome to our Legends Among Us 2.0 exhibit in the SOUP Offices. We have decided to turn our outer offices into a makeshift gallery for your viewing pleasure! Each month we shall endeavor to bring you delightful works from your fellow snakes who have been honored with our monthly awards across our various subforums.

So without further ado I invite you to join me at this month's gallery opening! First up, we have our beloved Heir of Slytherin for October 2024, Nicolette117, who is also our Noble Slytherin this month!

This drawing is based on the human emotion of love. I love the show Steven Universe so much, but I chose to recreate this moment because this most represents love to me. I was misguided when I was young. For some (crazy) reason, I thought being different was bad. I hated my brown skin and my unruly, curly afro. But now, there is no one on earth who loves me more than I love me. There is a song in Steven Universe that goes, "I don't need you to respect me, I respect me. I don't need you to love me, I love me. But I want you to know you could know me, If you change your mind." I changed my mind, and anyone can change their mind if they really try. To love oneself is to be whole.

Next, we move on to our busy Snakelet of the Month, Madimations!

Hiya! My name is Madi and I'm new to HEX. I was very honoured to receive Snakelet of the Month; it made my day when I found out. I'm absolutely loving the site and have made quite a few friends already. I found the site on Pinterest and I haven't gone a day without logging in ever since I got my account. I love art and animation -which is how I got my username Madimations. It's my name, Madi, and Animations put together. I hope to have my own animated show for my characters one day and am currently learning to animate. I also like to draw art for some things I do on HEX such as character designs for some role plays and some art for a club I'm in. I hope to continue having fun on HEX roleplaying, collecting shinies, and chatting with all the cool people I meet.

Closely tied to our Snakelet is our Pythonidae of the Month also over in the Serpent's Nest! Our winner for this award for this month is Maestro!

Howdy! Maestro here! Believe it or not (I barely do!) but I am a 12-year HEXian! Gosh, I was 48 years old when I started and now 61 is on the horizon! I was living in Indiana when I first joined, and from there, I have since lived in Santa Fe, Chicago (on my way to my ill-fated 2020 China fiasco - I was to work there and was waiting for my work visa), then Omaha, Chicago again, and finally Santa Fe again, to which I hope to stay for a while. I have 2 Hamsters on HEX, both over 11 years old. Time flies!

Emotions. That's a mouthful. I don't get out much, but I did take a tour of China in 2007 (hence my desire to work there) and had a thoroughly wonderful time! Gee, was I full of emotions, thinking of taking a plane, direct from Chicago to Beijing, and being almost 6800 miles away from home. Excitement, Anticipation, Fear, Anxiety, Hope, and maybe a few more, from when I booked my flight until I arrived and got back home. Relief.

Emotions are powerful, but can certainly make an event most memorable. Now I am content to sit back, work, HEX, and enjoy my new surroundings - time to explore! Once again, Excitement, Anticipation, etc., etc. Attached is a picture from my China tour, I'm on the Great Wall posing with a few Chinese tourists. Gānbēi, Cheers!

Our next shining snake comes to us as the winner of our Industrious Snake Award, AdeleTheHobbit!

Hello everyone! Some of you will know me but, for those of you who don't, I'm Adele, a real-life hobbit, who is a proud Slytherin and works behind the scenes to keep things moving. As my username suggests I am a massive Middle Earth fan and am currently down a Rings of Power rabbit hole. Outside of my House Admin role, I also help run the site as a GMod and write for the Daily Prophet and SOUP. Off HEX, I love to write my own stories and hope to have my own book on the shelves one day. If you see me around feel free to say hi and keep up the amazing work!

How about we hop on over to an offering from the winner of our Community Hero Award, Meredith_lee!

Hello fellow Slytherins and thank you so much for the Community Hero award! My name is Merry and I've been a member of HEX for almost nine (9) years, unfortunately, most of that was on an unexpected hiatus, but the best part is that I am finally back.

I was originally sorted into Ravenclaw, and while I enjoyed my time in that house and met some amazing people, I always felt at home here in Slytherin. So when I came back, I immediately put in for the switch. Also, upon my return to HEX, I decided to dive (or maybe cannonball would be more appropriate) into every contest I could get my hands on both here in the house and across the site.

Off HEX, in the real world, I am a nail tech and I absolutely love what I do. I also am an avid reader (mainly horror, sci-fi, and fantasy), love watching films/shows, traveling, and as of most recently, cruising! So, if you see me around HEX, say hi! I love getting to know new people and helping out my fellow HEXians, especially brand-new Slytherins, so do not hesitate to ask if you need help with anything.

Thank you so much again for this award, I am always happy to help the community in any way that I can

I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we wholeheartedly thank each of these brave souls for sharing a bit of themselves with us! Artwork in every form is usually something quite personal to each of us. We here at SOUP send our deepest gratitude and love to each of these amazing people!

Join me next month as we take a deeper dive into our next award winners in the noble house of Slytherin! This is your resident SOUP Snake, signing off as it's time for a snack!
