I look out over the plains of Kingstead
As those amaze me during the day.
But what grabs my attention
Is the clear skies at night.
I look up and see all the stars twinkling
Right above my head.
I cannot explain why
But the beauty is hidden.
The stars come in many forms
And many shapes.
Some shine brighter than others
Some simply are there.
I love the stars that shine brightly.
It feels like they wink at me.
Every star has its own character
And that is visible to see.
On a clear night
You can see for miles around.
Those are the nights I love,
Just looking at all the shapes.
I look at all the constellations
And wonder the stories behind them
And if I am the only one
Who sees them like this.
I sometimes make up my own stories
About how the stars came to be.
I do not know how true they are,
Or of their original creation.
I think they are the prettiest things
That live up in the sky.
They bring such a mystery
I simply cannot explain.
I leave this now,
A mystery that needs no solving
Just enjoy the twinkling lights
And the magic of the sky above.
