- Kali

It is a beautiful day in June! Welcome to this month's News and Noteworthy by your very own Kali! We have so many amazing spotlights this month, from the Lake to a beautiful quote by Deborah A Ten Brink. This month we are exploring the skies. So, let us get ready to enjoy the night sky and learn more about our amazing world!

This month's forum spotlight is focused on The Lake. You can come here to sit and gaze up at the night sky, or you can try and get a glimpse of the merfolk or giant squid under the water. There are so many amazing threads you can check out while exploring the lake as well! So come on down and enjoy the breeze as you gaze up at the sky!

This month's user spotlight is focused on Shiva. She is a graduated Slytherin who is on the Cheer SKWAD. For the month of May she ran the Incentive Contest that was found in the Study Cafe. She did an amazing job of setting the incentive contest up and helped users to better enter the contest. She included several ways a person could enter the contest and many ways for people to win prizes. Let us give a round of applause to Shiva for her amazing work in May!

This month's item spotlight is focused on the brass telescope. A must have to attend Astronomy, it can also be used to explore the night sky on your own! Whether it be from the astronomy tower, or from the lake, you can use the telescope to see into the sky and learn more about the constellations around us. So, if you have not gotten one yet, please head on over to Diagon Alley and purchase your very one brass telescope!

This month's quote spotlight is focused on a quote by Deborah A Ten Brink. She says: "When life gets too overwhelming, just look up at the night sky and lose yourself for a while." I believe this to be incredibly good advice. Advice I should listen to myself. Though during the winter, it is not as fun to go outside when it is cold. But during the spring, summer, and fall, that would be a wonderful time to just sit outside under the night sky and just relax and let all your stress roll off you.

This month's character spotlight is our very own Sybill Trelawney. One of Hogwarts's most prominent teachers, she was given the job by Albus Dumbledore when she correctly predicted what would happen to He Who Shall Not be Named. She came from an extensive line of Seers but was one of only two true Seers in her family. She taught Astronomy throughout the years and predicted many different events that happened. She lost her job for a brief time due to Professor Umbridge but when Dumbledore returned to Hogwarts, she was given her job and her home back. When we gaze up at the stars at night, let us remember everything we have learned from Professor Trelawney.

This month's holiday spotlight is focused on Father's Day. This year Father's Day lands on June 16th. When thinking about astrology, most people do not believe in it, but the Sun is associated with the father. When looking at the Natal chart, the Sun represents the father. And when you look at your sun sign, you can see how you may relate to your father by using your sign. In normal astrology, the father is typically represented by the Sun, and sometimes Saturn. The Sun is a large force in astrology that represents the father, soul, ego, and vitality, while Saturn also represents prominent male figures in life.

We have covered so many things with our spotlights this month. And we have found fun ways to learn more about our night skies and astronomy. So, whether you are wanting to just relax on a calm night, or gaze through your telescope and learn more about the stars and planets that are around us, go outside, gaze up at the sky, and calm your mind with the beauty that is above us. This is Kali signing off to go gaze at the sky myself!
