Hello and welcome to our Legends Among Us 2.0 exhibit here in the SOUP Offices. We have decided to turn our outer offices into a makeshift gallery of sorts for your viewing pleasure! Each month we shall endeavor to bring you delightful works from your fellow snakes who have been honored with our monthly awards across our various subforums.
So without further ado I invite you to join me at this month's gallery opening! First up, we have our beloved Heir of Slytherin for May 2024, skiffiee!
Hello again, lovely Snakes!
I believe that this is the third time we meet here, and I hope it's not the last either. This month, I have been named the Heir of Slytherin and it's an absolute honor and a very lovely surprise. Thank you!
The term is almost at its end and I would like to use this opportunity to thank all of you amazing Slytherins for your hard work. I know this has only been my first year on HEX, therefore I don't have anything to compare with, but seeing you all come together and motivate each other when it comes to entering contests and doing homework has been incredibly inspiring and special. You truly make Slytherin feel like home, so thank you for that, as well.
That's it! I don't want to talk about myself or anything, I just wanted to let you know that Slytherin rocks.
Let's keep fighting and bring the Cup home! We totally deserve it!
-skiff
P.S.: leaving a little graphic here
Next, we move on to our busy Snakelet of the Month, Belladonna Riddle! This lovely snake is also our Industrious Snake this month.
Hello everyone, I'm Belladonna Riddle & I've been a proud Slytherin ever since I first experienced the Harry Potter world.
I'm new to HEX, only joined in February, so winning the Snakelet of the Month AND Industrious Snake titles this month took me by complete surprise! I am really enjoying HEX, I love all the contests and things to do, which has really helped with my mental health.
One of my favorite things to in the summer is drive out into a field to look at the stars and try to find the Constellations and juat gaze at the stars. I live in the middle of nowhere Canada so the Northern Lights are extra bright and dancing. It's just breathtaking.
One day I'll have to list the Northwest Territories in March -when and where the Northen Lights are the most active and can been seen more vibrantly.
Closely tied to our Snakelet is our Pythonidae of the Month also over in the Serpent's Nest! Our winner for this award for this month is Armoracia!
Hai! I'm Mair, a total Slytherdor who has delighted in embracing my Snek side on HEX for the past 5+ years. My dad was a Gryffindor, Mom's a Ravenclaw who worries she might be a Hufflepuff (spoiler alert: she's not), and my brother is basically a tolerant Muggleish Squib. I live with two hooligans (English Springer Spaniels) and am basically a dragon in human skin. I have been obsessed with Harry Potter since the year before HEX was founded, but only discovered our site in January 2016.
That said - my other lifelong fandom obsessions have involved astronomy. My grandpa introduced me to Star Trek when I was around 8 or 9, not long after the original series went into syndication and just before the first cartoon version came out. By the time I was in high school, I could "name that episode" within 30 seconds of a visual and/or two sentences of dialog from anywhere in the episode. I can't do that anymore, but it spurred a life-long fascination with astronomy and both fantasy and science fiction. From there, it was a no-brainer to generalize to Star Wars, Doctor Who, and countless written series, including my beloved dragons on Pern.
Most recently, I got the extremely rare (for me) opportunity to witness almost 6 minutes of solar eclipse totality. While my elderly phone camera wasn't the best and didn't do the event justice, here's the clearest pic I was able to get on my own:
As you can see, I'm not the best photographer out there. But I did try my best!
Join me now as we check out the latest from our Magical Muse, little dragon36!
Our lovely Kayda is an amazing baker and wanted to share some pictures of a cake she recently baked and decorated for us to enjoy!
Last, but certainly not least, we leave you with this Triolet poem written by our latest Noble Slytherin, Ninja Kitten!
I bask in the warmth of the sun.
It gives me a sense of peace.
I feel better when I'm out on a run.
I bask in the warmth of the sun.
We all can enjoy it together as one.
All fighting and anger can cease.
I bask in the warmth of the sun.
It gives me a sense of peace.
