What a wonderful month to celebrate birthdays! Welcome to News and Noteworthy where we are going to discuss birthdays this month. August is known as the month that HEX was born. It is also a great month for me, as my birthday lands mid-month. When researching HEX, I found that HEX was first released on August 21st, 2001. I would have just turned 10 four days before this. I wish I had known about HEX back then. I have loved Harry Potter since I have been able to read it. My family bought me all the books as they came out so I could read them. So, knowing that I was born the same month that HEX came out, that is AMAZING. But let's get into this month's spotlight!
This month's Forum Spotlight is focusing on the Student Hangout. The Student Hangout is where you can meet people from all over HEX, and from each different house. It houses threads such as Cozy Chats, Caretaker concoctions, Puzzled Pillows and more. It also is where you can go to find the Pal-Searching Thread. This month's Thread Spotlight is focusing on the Pal-Searching Thread. This thread is focused on helping witches, wizards, and wix find a new friend. To be able to do this, you must post on the thread with several different things including your name, location, hobbies, sports, TV shows, and more! This way you can find people who have similar likes and dislikes to you, and you can easily get to know people and make new friends. So, if you are looking to make new friends, head on over to The Pal-Searching Thread and fill out what you need too to find some new friends.
This month's User Spotlight is focused on Valdemort! He is a 7th year Slytherin who was the July Heir of Slytherin and the Squid Tank winner of 2024. Congratulations to him for his accomplishments this year! He earned his July title by doing what he could for the House and for winning such a fun game! Congratulations again to you and all the best in your future endeavors!
This month's Item Spotlight is focused on the 20th Birthday Cupcake. This item was designed by Katie Errol for the 20th Birthday of HEX. This happened back in August of 2021. A whole three years ago, the website turned 20! And now we are turning 23 years old, and the site is still going strong, and everyone is still having fun and enjoying themselves.
This month's Quote is "Count your life by smiles, not tears." - John Lennon. I take this quote to mean that you shouldn't measure what you do in life by your failures but by your successes. And I wholeheartedly agree with that. You don't have to do it just on your birthday, you can do it any day of the year that you want. Even if you want to do it every day, you can do that. So, take life by each day, and count your blessings. Smile big and continue on even when you fail!
This month's Character Spotlight is going to be Ginevra Molly Weasley, better known as Ginny Weasley. The youngest of the Weasley children and, according to canon, Harry's future wife, Ginny was born on August 11th, 1981. If she were real and not just one of my favorite characters, I would be 10 years and 8 days younger than her! She fought bravely in the final Wizarding War and then went on to become a journalist at the Daily Prophet after playing professional Quidditch.
This month's Holiday Spotlight is focused on August 25th which this year happens to be National Banana Split Day! If you are hankering for a good banana split or even just an ice cream sundae, enjoy this amazing day with a wonderful bowl of ice cream with your choice of toppings!
It's been another amazing month with News and Noteworthy. We have explored many things that go with a wonderful month of birthdays! From the birth of our wonderful HEX to Ginny's birthday, even to my amazing birthday, this month is filled with so many more amazing births!
