Legends Among Us, 2.0
- Sally the SOUP Snake

Hello and welcome to our Legends Among Us 2.0 exhibit in the SOUP Offices. We have decided to turn our outer offices into a makeshift gallery for your viewing pleasure! Each month we shall endeavor to bring you delightful works from your fellow snakes who have been honored with our monthly awards across our various subforums.

So without further ado I invite you to join me at this month's gallery opening! First up, we have our beloved Heir of Slytherin for July 2024, Valdemort!

This ambitious snake participated in this year's Squid Tank and took home the gold after six grueling weeks of competition. A master of raffles, auctions, and negotiations, he exemplifies hard work and dedication like no other! His creativity made him stand out among the other squids as he fought for first place. He certainly showed us snakes the value of never giving up! *

Next, we move on to our busy Snakelet of the Month, shxdowblxde!

Hello everyone I am Vanya and it's been about 2 months since I joined HEX. I am a Slytherin through and through.

I was completely surprised when I was chosen as the Snakelet of the Month as I wasn't expecting that. I spend most of my time on HEX lurking in chat threads and participating in contests. I took part in my first Pride event which was very beautiful.

My username is pretty weird. I made it back in 8th grade and I'm too lazy to change it. I like to read books and comics, listen to music, box, and practice martial arts. I watch the sky when I need to calm down, it really helps.

Closely tied to our Snakelet is our Pythonidae of the Month also over in the Serpent's Nest! Our winner for this award for this month is freakshowquidditch!

Happy August snakes! In celebration of the birthday theme and also of my own birthday, I decided to make a birthday card, since that is one of my favourite parts of birthdays. Choosing the right card for someone feels essential, and sometimes I love it even more than the gifts. The lion is to celebrate the Leo zodiac sign (and I also chose it since I am a Leo, and Neville and Harry and Ginny and Percy are too), and the peacock is to go with the natural elegance that Leos have.

Join me now as we check out the latest from our Magical Muse, Taunia xD!

Taunia's portfolio showcases her incredible graphics and her creative contest entries. Her pieces show her talent for amazing color and composition, as well as high-quality graphic design. Her creativity and innovation allow her graphics to shine against any prompt! Check out her work in her portfolio, Taunia Splashing Around Colors

Here is an example of their art.*

Our next shining snake comes to us as the winner of our Industrious Snake Award, ShieldG!

Hello to you all, my fellow snakies. I'm Ann also known as ShieldG and sometimes Winky. I'm an escapee from Pottermore where I was Shield Goblet 126 and in Slytherin. I followed the crowd here about 8 years ago, from Pottermore, and soon made some new friends as well as catching up with old friends from Pottermore who were on here too. Everyone helped an old witch navigate this site and help out with technical know-how, for which I am absolutely clueless. Who says you cannot teach an old dog (witch) new tricks?

I am passionate about winning the cup for our house this year and have tried my very best to make this happen. My whole family thinks I'm nuts about Harry Potter but they still keep buying me Potter-related stuff. Here is what my Daughter bought me for Christmas a Lego Dobby - took me ages to put those tiny little things on top of the cake.

Anyway, you could have knocked me down with one of Hedwig's feathers when I got the owl from SOUP - I am delighted and proud to be asked to contribute to the paper this August. Hope you enjoy my little piece and see you around the site entering all those contests so that we can win the House Cup next year too!

How about we hop on over to an offering from the winner of our Community Hero Award, Amity CatWalnut!

Hello again. Long time no see ;D I'm Amy T. (Amity CatWalnut), the retiree from the field of architecture, wife, and mother of two adult children. Thank you for the honor of receiving the Community Hero Award.

It's a rather timely coincidence that the topic for the month happens to be birthdays. I adore birthdays because I feel that there should always be a day to celebrate the individual... you! In this case, it was apropos that the theme happens to be birthdays because I was approached with the honor of contributing to this publication with a due date of July 17th which happens to be my birthday.

I think I spoke about myself enough in July's edition so I'd rather speak about YOU this month. Thanks to all of you in the HEX community for being so wonderful and supportive to me and to each other. Let's keep it up. As for the Slytherin house … best house ever. We work so well as a team as we focus our efforts towards our goals. Thank you.

As to what else to share with you, how about an image submitted for a recent HEX task? I like drawing.

Task: Your task this month is to assist Hagrid in designing a cheer prop (e.g. flag, banner, sign, scarf, etc.) to support Buckbeak in next month's Magical Olympic Games! (I chose a hat and scarf set.)

Last, but certainly not least, we leave you with this drawing created by our latest Noble Slytherin, mallory_mason!

Hello everyone! I'm Mallory, and I'm honored to be the Noble Slytherin for July. This is the first drawing I did in the sketchbook I got for my last birthday. I usually hang out with friends on my birthday and we like to make up stories at sleepovers. My friends and family know that I enjoy drawing, so I often end up with one or two new sketchbooks to fill each year.

I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we wholeheartedly thank each of these brave souls for sharing a bit of themselves with us! Artwork in every form is usually something quite personal to each of us. We here at SOUP send our deepest gratitude and love to each of these amazing people!

Join me next month as we take a deeper dive into our next award winners in the noble house of Slytherin! This is your resident SOUP Snake, signing off as it's time for a snack!
