Pirate Chatter
- Katie_slytherin

It all started when a dopey wizard, wand in hand, stumbled into a sinkhole and fell all the way in. Yelling mumbling nonsense as he fell, his wand unexpectedly flashed, filling the hole with a bright blue light. When help finally arrived to rescue the wizard, he was babbling energetically about the seven seas. For the accidental magic had charmed him to talk like a pirate!

Hi there friends, it's Katie_slytherin here, with another addition of 'Chatting With . . . '! This month I was able to get Arganon Sturgis for an interview! For those of you who think his name sounds familiar but can't quite put your finger on it, Arganon went viral across local Wizarding publications when he fell into a sinkhole and emerged talking like a pirate. Now, we all know his story, but what about how his life has been since then?

Katie: Helloooooooo SOUP readers, let's give a warm welcome to our interviewee of the month - Arganon Sturgis! Thank you for coming here to chat with us about your story! I'll let you take the floor and introduce yourself to everyone before diving into questions!

Arganon: Ahoy, everyone, it's a pleasure t' be here wit' all o' ye! As ye can prolly tell, I've casted the legendary spell on meself fer this interview! Me name be Arganon. Mighty fittin' fer this spell, don't ye reckon? Argh-anon! Hohohohoho, a mighty corny joke, I know, but I can nah help meself! Blimey, blimey, back on track. It's been about two years since I fell into that hole, 'n magic how me life has changed! Luckily a simple Finite Incantatem was able t' get me speech back t' normal, but me journey was far from o'er aft gettin' the spell undone. I spent many months aft trying t' figure out wha' the words fer the incantation caused the pirate speech. Why would I do this, ye ask? So I could use it, o' course! 'twould be a great spell t' 'ave fer festival entertainment, sprogs' parties, historical reenactments, or pranks. A surprisin' number o' different uses fer this spell. Aft much research 'n consultin' wit' master spell studiers, I realized rather than the effects bein' from a spell, the effects came from more o' wha' would fall under accidental magic. It took a long time, but I finally was able t' properly document wha' t' do in order safely use this magic. Nowadays, I don't cast the spell often, but every now 'n then, I break it out fer special events.

Katie: It's crazy to learn how much work you had to put in to master this magical effect. What has been one of your favourite memories that came from a session of magical pirate speech?

Arganon: I've got so many tales! One that sticks out t' me be when I was dressed up like a pirate 'n I was takin' pictures 'n interactin' wit' sprogs at a Christmas festival 'n then all o' the sudden an elderly beauty walks by 'n starts ramblin' about pirates nah havin' anythin' t' do wit' the holidays. So long tale short, I decide t' start beltin' out Christmas carols at the top o' me lungs- wit' a piratey twist o' course! Soon, the whole cabin was singin' 'n dancin' t' pirate carols! It jus' goes t' show how the magic o' uniqueness 'n fun can be more powerful than a matey may reckon.

Katie: It sounds like you know how to engage an audience! Perhaps you could come to a SOUP office one time and shake things up a bit. How has the theme of pirates impacted your life since the incident?

Arganon: A whole lot more than I would 'ave imagined! At this point, I be kind o' known fer bein' the 'pirate scallywag' locally. I 'ave so many pirate-themed trinkets from figurines t' socks! It's also helped me get so much more involved in me community. I volunteer fer a lot o' family events 'n 'ave mighty gotten t' know a lot o' the sprogs, we 'ave a lot o' fun together.

Katie: It's wonderful to hear how active you are in your community and how you try to spread joy to others. What is one thing, other than endless pirate facts, that you've learned from your pirate adventures?

Arganon: Hmmmm, one thing I've learnt that I like t' share be that it's aye t' let go 'n be goofy every now 'n then. It's a great way t' learn about yourself 'n a sure way t' 'ave fun. Ye don't always 'ave t' take yourself seriously. Don't worry about wha' other scallywags might reckon, jus' be ye!

Katie: That's a wonderful life lesson! Now, of course, this adventurous magical mishap has made a mark in your life, but have you experienced any other fun magical mishaps?

Arganon: Many! Especially from me school years. One time I accidentally set me desk on fire 'n when I tried t' put it out I spread the fire t' another desk. The professor was nah happy wit' me as I nigh-on caught her hair on fire while trying t' put the first fire out. Magical accidents certainly make fer interestin' memories. Oh, shoot! Speakin' o' memories, I've jus' remembered I forgot t' let me cat out o' the washroom! Oh no, I've gotta run!

Katie: Oh, um, bye? Thanks for coming to chat with us! Well, I suppose that wraps up this month's edition of 'Chatting With. . .' Remember to always be careful while doing magic!

Until I reemerge from my cave again, this is goodbye from your favourite totally bad evil scary sockeh Slytherin!
