A Monster Of A Mess!
- Little Dragon

KNOCK KNOCK!!

Come on in, I called out. I wonder who it is; I'm not expecting anyone today, just the owl from my darling editors. Nikita, one of my co-writers, saunters in with a smile. "Hi ya, little dragon I brought your owl since I was heading this way anyway." Turning around from the stove as I was just about to turn it on, as I was getting ready to try one of Nikita's recipes that she shared with me for a lovely fruit loaf. I love a good fruit loaf.

Any way back to my story.

I had a small flame in my mouth to light my stove and instead, in my excitement, lit my brand new potholders on fire along with the stove! Want an absolute mess this was turning into. Nikita ran for the water as I threw the potholders onto the ground to try to stomp them out. Nikita threw a bucket of water on me and the flaming potholders. Sputtering, "W...aaa.. I think it's out along with the new potholders you gave me,." Well, at least I still have the dish towels left. I loved the green color they were.

Nikita giggled as she looked around the kitchen at the massive amount of wet, black, soot soup at my feet. Well, you are so crafty little dragon; there is probably a way for you to turn one of the towels into another pot holder." "Nikita!! You're a genius", I exclaimed. "But first, I need to clean up this monster of a mess. Have a seat, dear." Running to the laundry room where I kept my cleaning supplies, I hurried to get what I needed and a towel. Coming back, I stopped and stared into my pristine kitchen and a gloating smile upon my friend's face. "oh, WOW! thank you so much, dear; I'm so very grateful. Perhaps you would like to help me try to make a potholder out of one of the dish towels?"

No Sew Potholders

Supplies
- Standard kitchen towel - makes two potholders
- Permanent sticky charm/ Heat and Bond Ultrahold iron-on adhesive sheet (17 inches X 1 yard)
-Permanent sticky charm/ Heat and Bond Ultra iron-on adhesive tape 5/8"
- Matching/ contrasting bias tape
- Template
- Diffindo/ scissors
- Pins if doing it the Muggle way
- Thermeum/ Iron, if doing it the Muggle way
- Magic Wand

Directions
For two (2) potholders

1. print template

2. Fold the dish towel in half and cut along the fold (Diffindo). You now have four rectangles of equal size to make two no-sew potholders.

3. with the backs of the fabric facing you, pin the template (permanent sticky charm) to one set of the rectangles and cut. repeat for the second potholder.

4. Use the template to cut (Diffindo) two pieces of the Heat and Bond Sheet. Follow package directions to iron (heating charm) one piece to the back of one rectangle. Let it cool. Remove backing paper. Iron (Thermeum) a second fabric rectangle onto the bonded one. Repeat for the second potholder.

5. Cut two 29-inch strips of bias tape for the potholders' trim. Position Heat and Bond tape atop the backside of a bias tape strip and iron (Thermeum) as before.

6. Double a bonded strip of bias tape over the edge of one no-sew potholder starting from the potholder's pointed corner.

7. Iron (Thermeum and Permanent Sticking charms) almost all the way around

8. Fold the tail of bias tape in half and iron (Thermeum and permanent sticky charm) together, leaving a gap.

9. Tuck tail into the gap and iron down. The potholder now has a hanger. Flip the potholder over and iron (Thermeum and permanent sticky charms) the other side of the bias tape trip to bond it down firmly.

10. Repeat the trim process for the second potholder.

"It looks almost like the ones I lost!" I happily got out the recipe again for the fruit loaf. " I can't wait to try to make this, but I think I might just let the potholders hang up as decoration at the moment." We chatted and laughed so much as we made the best fruit loaf I have ever had to the point it was gone before Nikita even left. What a crazy messy, wonderful day we had. "Until next time, folks, don't forget to be careful when baking"
