AUTUMN IS HERE.
It's that time of year again, people all over HEX have begun the long, arduous grind that comes with each new school term. Users of all types across the globe removed their books, parchments, and quills from their trunks. I don't know about you, but mine are looking a bit... dusty after what felt like a super long and extremely short summer all at the same time.
I've been a graduate student on HEX for many years now, collecting careers and reading new material each wave. I've seen just about all one could ever see in subjects like Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, or Muggle Studies but I keep coming back year after year. It's such a wonderful community of people on both ends of the Magical Education department, both the students and the professors, editors, coders, and secretaries. I was blessed to be a part of this department for roughly seven years and I loved every minute of it. The people who work in that department go the extra mile to make things interesting and interactive for us. We are so very lucky to have them all.
While so many are quite depressed or frustrated with what the House Cup race has become I urge you all to keep trying. Some day we will break through. It WILL happen. It doesn't take all that long to fill out the homework assignments and you really will find some awesome lessons in the mix throughout term. I urge each of you to be the kind and compassionate snakes that I know you can be and remember to send encouragement or kind words to some of your professors at least once this term. Thank them for the time and effort, even if their lessons were written awhile ago. Take the time to let them know that you appreciated a lesson they contributed to.
HOUSE STAFF NEWS
It is time for your lovely members of House Staff to take their bows and exit, stage left. Some of them are eligible to run again, while others are not. We thank each and every one of them for their service, especially that kitten as it takes what equates to true love for our beloved House to be a part of the staff. Each person exudes determination, pride, ambition, and cunning --- all of them. This term has brought us the Slytherins Sounding Off poll that began multiple conversations that, in turn, have spurred a few different projects to begin. Planning new things takes time after all. A few changes have already appeared across the House, such as the new Homework Raffle process, a new puzzle game in the Study Forum that is now Bi-Weekly instead of Weekly, and our brand new Slytherin Prize Booth Incentive.
Elections will be here before you know it, so start preparing. We are looking for lots of potential candidates to take the Quaffle and fly with it, so to speak. New ideas, fresh perspectives, and ideas are all required every few months in order to keep things alive and interesting. We are looking forward to reading your speeches and feeding off of your energy encouraging you to help restore glory to Slytherin. Stay tuned in the Common Room for more information on the election process and schedule.
Tag! You're it.
CHANGE IS NOTHING NEW.
While you are at it, please remember to look under every rock, in every darkened alcove, and 'abandoned' classroom for ways to earn House points. Our fabulous Cheer SKWAD keep a running list over in our Study Forum and there are also other users that can be found in our Common Room who are alerting users to opportunities and giving encouragement. There are a wide variety of ways to earn points across HEX.
Those ways also change here and there. Each area is always working towards evolving and making changes to keep users interested in what they have to offer. For example, have you gone into the Grounds forums and taken a look around. They have a new shell incentive that can be found Under the Lake. The members of the RPC team mention changing things up a bit in their latest homepage announcement as well. Remember, change is good... in fact changing the winner of the House Cup race would be good, right?
Would you look at the time? There are no clocks in our tiny offices and we certainly don't have any windows. It's much later than I thought, Nox will be back any minute... Wait. Did I say that out loud? Never you mind, it's nothing important, not at all. I'll see you later, if Nox doesn't get me fired for stealing. Good-bye!
