Granger in Green

Blaise Zabini glanced up at his friends. He had organised a reunion between former Slytherins, but only a few had shown up. Theodore Nott was to the left of him, Gregory Goyle and Pansy Parkinson sat opposite, and Draco Malfoy was on his right. "Guys. I've just had a thought. What if Granger had been in Slytherin with us?" His question came out of nowhere and it was clear that his companions hadn't been ready for it. It was certainly something Zabini had thought about before; although he wasn't sure why.

"Granger, a Slytherin?" Pansy shrieked hysterically. "Are you feeling alright, Blaise?" Clearly, he's not thinking right. "She's a Mudblood. How on Earth could you possibly think she would have survived with us?"

"I agree," came Theodore's voice. "She wouldn't have fitted in. Given my father's background, I can tell you that Granger definitely would have been a target." Nott was still very proud that his father had been a Death Eater.

"But you are just focusing on her blood type," Blaise replied. "Look at all those points she won for Gryffindor!"

"You're just saying that because you fancied her," Pansy teased, to which Goyle guffawed. "Just like you fancied the Blood Traitor, Ginny Weasley."

Blaise shook his head and turned to Malfoy, hoping for a sensible voice in this conversation. "What do you think about it all, Draco?" It turned out the blond was staring into space. "Draco?"

"What?" Draco sneered. He had been too busy imagining Hermione as a Slytherin to concentrate on the pathetic conversation. While Lucius may have looked down on him for becoming friends with a Muggleborn, his father could have also gone the other way. It would have been very satisfying to see Granger rack up all those house points for Slytherin instead of Gryffindor. "I have no opinion," he replied before changing the subject.
