Chatting with Goyle
By James Rowle XI
Hello everyone and welcome to another fabulous interview by yours truly. This month, we have decided to do a theme of my choosing, Ancestors. Just how important are our ancestors? And should we really take pride in them? I for one have strong feelings towards my family, and all my ancestors. As a member of the Rowle family I come from a long and distinguished line of people. The most notable being Damocles Rowle, Minister of Magic, and the first minister to use Azkaban as a prison.
I don't believe I'm the only one who takes pride in my ancestors' achievements. Slytherin House has a long and distinguished history of notable families, and our respect for them. For this issue, I'm going to interview a less popular member of Slytherin House. Gregory Goyle was a Slytherin in the same year level as famous historical figures, Harry Potter, and Draco Malfoy. He was a beater for the House Team, and a member of the Inquisitorial Squad.
Q - Questions
A - Answers
Q - Good Evening Mr Goyle, how are you today?
A - Ugh, fine. Are those cakes for me?
[Yes, I did bring a few cool looking chocolate cupcakes along to keep him interested.]
Q - Of course, can't have you going hungry while we talk. First question, you are a member of the Goyle family?
[I had to wait a moment for him to swallow enough of his current cake to talk.]
A - Yes, I'm from the Goyle family. We're a pureblood family.
Q - Okay, what do you think of your family and its history?
A - My family is good, I do what my father did. We are a pureblood family who have been around for ages, and I love being a part of it.
[He isn't exactly the most talkative of people. Maybe I shouldn't have brought the cakes to distract him?]
Q - Yes, you mentioned the pureblood part. Has your family done any notable achievements of the years?
A - We've all been in Slytherin? And we look after the Malfoys. My father has stood next to Mr Malfoy all his life and now I stand next to Draco. They need us.
[His face glows with pride.]
Q - The Malfoys need you? What exactly does your family do for them?
A - We do what they want. They tell us to do something and we do it.
Q - Do you also do everything your father tells you to do?
A - Of course.
[He looks baffled as if that is the only possibility.]
Q - Let's move on from your family. What can you tell us about pureblood traditions? What is your favorite?
A - Traditions are important. We use to be able to do rituals every year but now we can't because of all the muggle-borns. My father wanted to change that but he failed. I like Christmas, so much food.
Q - You do realize that Christmas is more of a muggle holiday?
A - It is?
[I really do feel sorry for how confused he looks at this question.
Q - Well I think I have enough here. Thank you for your time.
A - Can I keep the cakes?
I let him keep the cakes and returned to my office. That interview was, admittedly, a pretty huge disaster. If only Draco Malfoy had some free time I could've interviewed him, but instead I was stuck with some of the shortest, most boring answers I have ever received. I truly do apologize for that my dear readers, I had hoped that a fellow Slytherin would have more input on the topic of ancestors. Well until next time, I hope you have enjoyed this unique interview.
