Notes of Spamalot
- little dragon

Welcome readers. It appears that your favourite little dragon may be slightly out of her depth this month. Tasked with writing about theatre themed spells, I knew there was only one thing I could do, and that was to ask the SOUP writer whose column that normally was to help me. Luckily, she seemed to be in a relatively good mood that day.

Gingerly holding a brightly colored box, decorated with Slytherin green wrapping paper, in my right paw, I strode into Nikita's office with a hopeful smile. Approaching her desk I stopped, placing the gift in the center of the laptop distracting Nikita from whatever she was working on. "Hiya Nikita, whatcha working on?"

A pair of large, liquid, honey brown eyes met mine as my bushy haired friend looked up at me with an exasperated sigh. It was obvious that her day was not going well as I thought as she grumbled, "Oh. Hey dragon. I was just reading an owl that Auntie Wolf sent me. She seems to be a little over enthusiastic about this month's theme, but at least it means she will save me from having to tackle those ghastly horoscopes. I swear I'd end up hexing someone if I had to figure them out. But I'm rambling. What can I do for you?"

"I apparently thought it was a great idea to pick up your spell of the month. My brain is an absolute jumbled up mess, I don't know if I'm coming or going. I'm thinking about doing a charm; is that ok?" My head wanted to keep rambling because I had a idea. "I'm thinking about doing the Cantis Charm? Oooh I know, I could charm the office with that one!" I burst into a fit of giggles.

Suddenly, I appeared to have Nikita's attention and I saw a devilish grin spread on her face. "That's absolute genius, dear! I love that idea. I saw Tabitha use it in a duel once and her opponent spent two rounds singing "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" before it wore off. I laughed far too hard. Just promise me, that if I show it to you, you'll use it to jinx that person who insisted on... Well you know what..."

Stifling another laugh, I nodded as I agreed to her conditions. "I think that's a brilliant notion." I was laughing so much I had to sit down on the most comfortable chair in the room. "That sounds like it was an absolute gas. So essentially it makes the target... errr, person break out in song, right?"

"Yes that's right. Which is perfect for the insane theme this month. Musical theatre is the only good kind if you ask me. Now, have you got your wand handy?" Quickly pulling my slender Hornbeam wand from my leg holster, I nodded eagerly and waited for her to continue, watching as she pulled out her own elegant wand and smiled. "Now, I don't know how much you remember from school, but the Cantis incantation is from the Latin word 'Cantare', which means 'To sing' and it's pronounced CAN-tis. To cast it, you need to wave your wand in a pattern that looks a little like a cursive letter J. If you do it properly, the end of your wand should light up pink, but if you don't, well... um never mind. Just be careful, ok? The last thing we need is the Editors getting in any more of a state than they are already."

"Thank you so much, lovely, I remembered some of it, but if you remember I was never all that great with spells. That's more your department." Skipping out off the office before Nikita could stop me, I bubbled, "Don't forget to open your bribe... err, gift." As I skipped out, I was practicing the charm in my head or so I thought. As I passed Katie's desk, I accidentally said it out loud and ended up plowing into her, which caused me to cast it on her. I just had to run away giggling as I heard her burst into song, singing "Spamalot" at full volume. So on that note I bid you adieu from your friendly little dragon.
