With heading to Broadway, it seems only appropriate that today I talk to you about one of my favorite artists, Charles Fazzino.
Fazzino is frequently referred to as a Master of 3-D Pop Art and he is known for having his artwork literally pop off the canvas.
Now you might be wondering what this has to do with Broadway. Growing up in NY and going to college in NYC, it isn't uncommon for him to create images of the city. One of the areas he explores the most...
You guessed it! It's Broadway.
One of my favorite pieces from him is "My Love of Broadway"
I just love all of the popular musicals presented in one big collage. With all of the different areas popping up as well, you will often find something new to stare at each time you look at it.
But that isn't the only piece of Broadway he has.
He has many other collages like "We Found Love on Broadway" and "Bright Lights... Big City... Broadway"
He has even created a little Taxi Cab sculpture called "Taxi on Broadway by Night" with different shows on the roof!
As amazing as his artwork is, looking at his process is even more amazing. I am afraid there is no good way to put into words how interesting it looks, so I leave you with a brief one minute video which gives you a behind the scenes look into his Art Studio.
And if you are interested in a bit of a longer video where he also tells you a bit about himself, along with showing you some of his processes, here is another video. This video also talks about just how he layers the pieces and shows you what the layering looks like!
Enjoy the magic!
