It's October, so the fog has once again begun to drift into our SOUP offices. Why the seventh years have a tradition of fogging up the dungeons, we'll never know. Annoying as it can be trying to type up an article, or answer fan mail... who are we kidding, no one here gets fan mail. This month's issue is every bit as dark and mysterious as we could hope for. So go turn on our suggested playlist of Muggle tunes and flip through the pages to read all about the nasty and despicable villains that we all love - or love to hate.

Death Eaters are the talk of the month, and we have plenty of articles for you to dive into this spooky season. Our Chatting With introduces renowned witch, Bellatrix Lestrange, while Alumni Adventures has Draco Malfoy reminiscing the haunting events of the poor decisions from his youth. If you crave something even darker, you'll not want to miss this month's Art Column for a witchy good time. And don't forget to participate in the latest Puzzling Things for a Hangman and Word Search puzzles! The winner receives a Galleon prize and special graphic for their efforts. So, put out your "Witches Welcome" mats and jack-o-lanterns, and let's finish off October with plenty of tricks and treats.

Love them or hate them, Death Eaters seem to have an aura of mystery and awe. Even if you know exactly who's under the hood and mask! (C'mon Lucius, at least hide your hair somehow!) Maybe it's something to do with the mask? Whatever it is, it does strike at something deep within each of us. Even though we know they are more than able to carry out questionable acts at best - horrendous acts at worst - there is just something about Death Eaters that captures your attention and imagination. Just... admire them from afar, yeah? The Cruciatus is not a good-times spell at all.

Until next time,
Nikky, Janelle & NK
