SOUP :: Twisted Fairytales :: October 2013

Letter From The Editor

By Deidra

Halloween is coming. You know, I don’t think there is a person who loves this holiday quite the same way Pansy does. Pansy is having her and I dress up as ‘evil queens.’ There are corsets and crowns involved, and possibly some leather? I’'m not sure, but all I can tell you is that the shoes she’s picked out for me are going to kill me. Bloody high heels. I can barely walk in normal shoes, let alone heels. And, I'’m not sure I have the face for a crown, to be quite honest. Ah, well, I'’m sure it'’ll be nice to be a Queen, though, to be frank, Pansy will look better in the costume. Granted, I think she looks perfect in everything, but I may be just a wee bit biased. Pansy is just one of those people that just looks like a Queen, if you know what I mean.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays for one reason; it’'s fun with no obligations. You can dress up and go out and do something, or you can stay at home and enjoy some Edgar Allen Poe and hot apple cider. There are 101 different ways to celebrate, and they are all loads of fun. Personally, I'’m not a party person. I'’d rather stay at home, pass out candy, and maybe swap scary stories with a few close friends. As you can imagine, Pansy is throwing a massive party at our flat. Ironically, it’'s where the theme of this month's issue of SOUP came from. Twisted Fairy Tales is apparently in fashion this year. It is a good theme, I'’ll admit. Anyway, enough about that.

Things around the office are more or less as you would expect; everyone is permanently hyped up on candy, and getting nothing done because they are all too busy plotting their holiday mischief. Especially Sara. I’'m totally convinced there is going to be a skeleton in a closet or something equally malicious. She seems like the type, doesn'’t she? Don'’t even get me started on Lenalie. Girl be crazy. Brandon is predicting my death again. This time it’'s death by poisoned tea. I don'’t even drink tea. I drink coffee. Then again, Madii has been eyeing my desk chair something fierce. Remind me not to accept anything she offers me.

Before I take up any more time, I'’ll remind you all to support your house teams, and of course, your favorite newspaper! Happy Halloween!

Love and kisses, Dei
