For now comes November, when the leaves have fallen off the trees, but that doesn't mean that the beauty of the season is over. For across the ground, the leaves now tumble, creating rainbow roads. The wonders of fall are all around us, its colours swirling all around us in the forms of outdoor decorations, cheery signs, and fantastic gourds. All you have to do is look around!
Hi there friends, it's Katie_slytherin here, bringing you another edition of 'Chatting With . . . '! When we think of the season of autumn, we picture an aesthetic of warm colours. Colours play such a vital role in so many aspects of our lives! This month we are going to splash into the wondrous world of colour in ways you might not have thought about before. So sit back and hold onto your butts, because this is going to be one colourful interview!
Katie: Alright, my SOUPer friends, this month we have our very own, beloved, LITTLE DRAGON36 joining us for our colour-themed interview. So, my dear dragon friend, what would the colour of your soul be and why?
Kayda: The colour of my soul, gee, that's hard. Probably Purple and green. mainly because those are my two favourite colours, they call to me and calm me.
Katie: As proud Slytherins, I think we can all agree that green is a most fabulous colour! Purple is a great choice as well; that colour has some powerful symbolism associated with it. What are your favourite colour schemes? Perhaps you're a fan of neon? Or maybe pastel?
Kayda: Hmmm. I tend to wear a lot of warm colours. from purple to green, of course. Toss in greys and blacks. and those are my favourites by far.
Katie: Very nice! I tend to toss in greys and blacks myself for my clothing sale. Have you ever travelled to a place known for its colourful surroundings? If so, where?
Kayda: I have travelled a few different places. My favourite time of year for colourful scenery is the fall. I've travelled all over the United States, and most recently, I've moved to England, which has some absolutely gorgeous scenery.
Katie: That sounds amazing! I'd love to be able to travel more to see different parts of the world during their fall seasons. Oooo, here's a fun question- What is your favourite colour combination?
Kayda: I have a couple, actually, so it's hard to pick. I love the look of green and silver. One, it represents Slytherin, and two, emerald green with silver is just a stunning combination.
Katie: I couldn't have come up with a better answer! Have you ever experimented with colour in fashion or beauty?
Kayda: Well, mainly when I was a teenager, I used to play with outfit combinations and with matching make-up.
Katie: I'm sure you came up with some amazing outfits! How do you incorporate colour into your home décor?
Kayda: We like to use throw blankets on the furniture and corresponding throw pillows. We also have some beautiful wildlife pictures and prints scattered throughout the house.
Katie: Wow, that sounds really cool! We'll have to schedule an exclusive house tour; maybe we can visit all of the SOUP Staffer's homes. . . We'll put that idea in our back pocket for now. Moving on, if you could have one thing in your favorite color, what would it be and why?
Kayda: A comfort item, of course. For me, that is a stuffed animal or a cuddly fuzzy blanket or throw.
Katie: One can never have enough stuffies or blankies!!! Have you ever seen a movie that stood out to you because of its use of colour? If so, what was it?
Kayda: I think the Pixar movie about emotions really stood out to me. Inside Out was vivid and colourful
Katie: I loved that movie! They definitely did a great job using colour in different ways, from creating mood to symbolizing the emotions themselves. How do you think the world would be different if we lived in a black-and-white world?
Kayda: It would be dull and lacklustre colour means a lot to many people. It would seem boring and without depth.
Katie: Colour gives us so much life in our world. Stepping back for a moment to appreciate the things we might take for granted can help us appreciate the little things in life and give us a new perspective to look at. Have you ever experienced synesthesia, and if yes, what was your experience like?
Kayda: I had to look up what you mean. *laughs* But being wrapped up in a purple fuzzy blanket makes me feel safe and secure. everything else kinda goes on hold in my world.
Katie: That's such a beautiful description; I love that. Well, it looks like our time is coming to an end, but before you go, I have a fun little activity! I am going to give you a list of colour-related words; without looking them up, guess which colour is associated with each one.
Kayda:
1. Chartreuse - Green
2. Tsavorite - Green
3. Harlequin - red
4. Celadon - green
5. Kaitoke - Green
6. Viridian - pink
7. Malachite - black
8. Nyanza - orange
9. Limerick - Green
10. Aventurine - Green
Katie: Oooooo, very interesting! All the words I chose were linked to the colour green, but I really liked some of the answers you had. I suppose it just goes to show how the meaning of colour can vary from person to person. It's such a cool thing to think about! All right, Kayda, I'll let you go now; thank you so much for taking the time to hang out with me! Well, I suppose that wraps up this month's edition of 'Chatting With. . .' The next time you're out and about, take a moment to look at the colourful world around you!
Until I reemerge from my cave again, this is goodbye from your favourite socktastically pureblooded Slytherin!
