"Bloody Hell! Get back here with my necklace you lousy thief! You may be cute but that doesn't give you any right to my necklace," I fumed as I saw a Niffler scurry off with my favorite necklace.
"Oi not you too! You crook!" Two tiny ones tried to make off with two of my rings. That so wasn't happening and I snatched one up by the scruff of its neck as the other got away since that one was nowhere near as fast. It looked mighty disappointed at being caught.
"Give it," I commanded it. The stubborn jerk clutched the ring closer to its chest shaking its head as much as possible with its scruff in my fist.
"Give it," I repeated waving my fingers in front of the beast. It started kicking up its legs looking for a fight. I growled low in my throat and it began kicking harder and making a whining sound as if that would invoke my compassion.
It should have.
Next thing I know, the large one is charging me and biting my ankle – who knew those things even had teeth with that beak of theirs – causing me to drop the tiny one and have it scurry off with my ring.
I know the saying regards a protective mother as a mama bear, but who knew that would apply to Nifflers too since they are hardly big enough to do damage you would think.
You would also be wrong.
After biting my ankle and allowing her little one to flee, you would think Mama Niffler would follow in the direction of her babies.
She didn't. Somehow, I found myself on the floor with the creature smacking at my face. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the little ones cheering mama on.
"Will someone get this bitch off me!" I yelled louder. I didn't want to shove her off since that would make her go flying and I still wanted my necklace back, and she was at a weird enough angle that that was my only choice. Apparently, she didn't like me calling her a bitch as started smacking me harder. I think I am going to have a black eye tomorrow. Who knew Nifflers packed such a punch, but I guess they must be strong with how much gold they lug around.
No one came to my aid. I hate you all, especially you, Mama Niffler!
