Salutations, dear readers! I do not want to waste too much time as I have a LOT to tell you! So, without further ado - let us dive right in! Now, as you may be aware there is a Muggle film to be released very soon that depicts part of wizarding history. If you are not aware of this, then perhaps you should pick up the Daily Prophet; they are having a field day with the obvious breach of the Statue of Secrecy. However, the breach appears not to bother the Ministry of Magic. The Muggles apparently believe the entire film series is fiction! Muggles can be quite adorable, can't they?
Anyway, I wanted to tell you guys about my visit recently with Newt Scamander's grandson, Rolf and his wife Luna Lovegood-Scamander. They are one of the benefactors of the new film, did you know? Yes, Rolf and his wife have been on the set of the Muggle film and have made sure to have Newt depicted in a way that would be approved of by Newt, himself! They are aware of how Hollywood can twist certain facts, and before you know it what you are watching is not the actual truth! I had the privilege to sit down with them and talk about their contributions to the films, and what they are looking forward to the most. However, I do not want to give away any spoilers, therefore, I will only share a few things that the pair have agreed was okay to be published.
Luna and Rolf do not wish for me to tell you any spoilers for the film, however, they recommend you read the updated version of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them textbook, as well as any history texts that you may have from this era. They think you should be prepared for the historical events that are surrounding the films and do not wish for you to go into the Muggle theater completely unaware. I learned that most of their contributions were contained to the creatures that are featured in the film; from providing them, to paying for their well-being and making sure they are well cared for by handlers. I was shocked to find out that there were only two wizarding handlers and one Muggle handler. When I asked if the Muggle handler needed to be obliviated each day, they smiled and told me that they already knew of the wizarding world because their sister was a Muggle-born witch. Amazing, right? They revealed that the Muggle worked extra hard to learn how to care for magical beasts, but he always must have a magical companion to do any spell work that may be required.
Now, let us get on to the meat of this article! While I was visiting with Luna and Rolf, their twin boys Lorcan and Lysander were playing together nearby, and I was able to overhear their conversation as they played. When they started naming creatures that I did not recognize, I spoke up and asked their parents. Apparently, Luna and Rolf have discovered many creatures that were thought to not exist before, including the Crumpled Horned-Snorkack! Luna admitted she had all but given up hope when they discovered the creature on a recent expedition to India.
I asked Luna and Rolf if their twins joined them on their expeditions, and they told me that they had but only in the past year. They recalled that when the twins were younger, they would stay with the Weasley's or Potter's while their parents went on an expedition. Due to this, the Scamanders did not take many expeditions when the boys were young and have made most of their discoveries in the last year as they were nearly always on an expedition nowadays. I inquired about further new discoveries, and they told me about this new turtle-like creature that they found in Asia that can fly!
I had such an amazing time with them and asked if I could go on their next expedition. They agreed, and I've wanted to skip everywhere I have gone this past week. Do not fret! I will tell you everything that happens on the expedition!
See you soon,
Eimear
