Hi there, it's Katie_slytherin here and today we are going to be talking about the Forbidden Forest! As we all know, the forest is a dark place full of mystery and all sorts of creatures. Who knows what lurks in there and what kind of shifty things happen in that place. So take a seat, grab a lamp, and bring a sword just in case because we're about to delve into the forbidden wonders of the Forbidden Forest! Today we will be talking with forest ranger expert ALYSANNE. What makes this lovely lady an expert you ask? Well, um, I actually don't know if she's even a ranger, I might have made that part up. Either way, she's agreed to talk to us about this month's subject which is a qualifying enough factor to call her an expert in this field. So let's get to it!
Katie: Hi there Alys, it's great to be able to talk with you, thank you so much for agreeing to meet with me today to talk about the wondrous subject of the Forbidden Forest! Let's start off with the basics, would you ever go exploring in the Forbidden Forest?
Alys: In the daytime, yes as it would probably be much safer but never at night.
Katie: That is a very good answer, I would also rather explore the Forbidden Forest during the daytime, although going during the might would make for a very interesting adventure. Moving on, as you know, there are many creatures that dwell in there. Which creature would you be most afraid to meet in the Forbidden Forest?Alys: The Acromantula colony. Those spiders are too big for me.
Katie: Another answer I would definitely have to agree on. Spiders are already too big as it is, never mind one over double my size. Stepping away from disturbing spider thoughts, which creature would you hope to run into?
Alys: Probably a Unicorn or the Bowtruckles. They're less likely to end up killing me so that's a plus. I heard that Fluffy was released there too so either of those options are probably the safest.
Katie: As a Greek Mythology nerd, I would love to meet Fluffy as well. I would bring a Kazoo and play a lovely rendition of hot crossed buns so I wouldn't get mauled to death. There are more shifty things in the forest other than just creatures, what kind of magical plants do you think lurk in there?
Alys: I think all sorts of magical plants are there since it's a magical forest. I bet there's even really rare ones deep within but only the bravest and strongest wizards and witches can get to them.
Katie: I wonder if that big plant from Little Shop of Horrors lives there. Moving onto my personal favourite question of the day, do you think Professor Snape would go into the forest to collect potion ingredients?
Alys: Probably, it would save him a few galleons if he can just walk down to the forest and collect what he needs if it's growing or living there.
Katie: I think so too! Let's see what else we have on the list here. . . Ah, yes, What would you do if you received an owl from the Flying Ford Angela inviting you to a tea party in the forest?
Alys: I would politely decline and probably use an excuse that I have other things I've already agreed to. Like staying in the Slytherin Common Room by the fireplace or napping.
Katie: Hypothetically, The Flying Ford Angela is not happy that you declined and has vowed to haunt you for the rest of your life. Do you think there was an incident to make its name "The Forbidden" Forest or do you think it was always called that?
Alys: Yes. I bet there was some foolish Gryffindor that went in and never came out. Probably to impress someone.
Katie: Oooooo I really like that answer! What do you think would happen if a fire started in the Forbidden Forest?
Alys: I think several creatures would end up dying and there's a possibility that some magical plants would be extinct depending on how rare they are. I would be pretty upset as that would be a huge blow to the creature population that live there and I hope whoever did it was caught. But on the bright side, I hope the Acromantula colony is gone?
Katie: People should really think before starting fires, especially in forests. As Smokey the Bear would say, "Remember. . . Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires". Which characters do you think would be the most likely and the least likely to survive a night in the forest?
Alys: Fred and George would most likely survive. Hagrid already spent a couple of years trying to keep them out anyway. Least likely though, maybe Draco Malfoy. I think he'd leave at the sound of the first twig snapping behind him.
Katie: I would sneak up behind Draco and yell "GRRRRR" and watch him run back up to the castle. Alright, we are coming to the end out our interview here. Last, but certainly very important is the question we all want the answer to - Why did the chicken cross the road forest?
Alys: Because it was the quickest way to Hogwarts.
Katie: Ohhhhh, that makes so much sense! And here I was thinking it was because it wanted to get to the other side.
All right, folks, that wraps up this issue's Chatting With. . ! Thanks for reading, and thanks Alys for coming to chat with us!
