The Greatest Rock Band Ever!

By Sam

Well, it seems we have been celebrating movies, and so I'd like to share with you one of the most amazing films I've ever seen and which you can watch for free on the internet! (In fact, I think that's probably the ONLY one you can watch it).

The movie I'm talking about is called The Song Remains the Same and it features the greatest rock band ever, Led Zeppelin. Surely you have heard of them? Well, even if you haven't it doesn't matter, as they are the roots for every type of music you listen to nowadays. Consider this is a free history lesson, and the 70s were QUITE historic. (I really wish I could have lived in those days.)

The film has tons of amazing concert footage with some of the band's most brilliant work. It also gives a glimpse of what it's like to be touring all the time and, most interestingly, some of the stuff that goes on backstage (like merchants inside the venue trying to sell illegal band stuff. Let's just say it's NOT pretty.)

The one thing this movie takes the most flak about is the dream/fantasy sequences of each of the four members. None of these are the least improper, just interesting. (Well, Jimmy and Robert's are the most interesting, to be honest). Robert's romantic hero sequence is actually pretty well done, just about equal to anything else I've ever seen of this sort in a movie, and the actress he works with is quite lovely. Jimmy's sequence, on the other hand, was quite a bit different. He is kind of a loner type, very private and known to be into the occult, so his thinking of himself as the Hermit from the tarot deck is doubtlessly very significant to him. (If you are into the tarot, it is not uncommon to associate yourself with one of the figures on the cards. I have compared myself to the High Priestess at times because of my occasional flashes of precognizance (meaning you know stuff before it happens). A lot of people are puzzled by the ending to his sequence, but watch the film and see what you think. It makes sense to me!

Anyway, definitely check this movie out and let me know how you like it. Seriously. I hope you love it as much as I do! The music is timeless, so watch it for that alone. I doubt there is ever going to be another Led Zep concert again, so this is as close as you are probably ever going to get.

Music and a movie - I've just made your dream evening come true.
