Spell of the Month
By Trinity Langton
I can't believe I'm doing this ....
No, no. That's wrong, you idiot.
Crap. Umm ...
Alrighty! Take two!
So, lemme do this right, starting with a proper introduction. My name is Trinity Langton. If my name sounds familiar ... well ... there may be a damn good reason for that. I'm the current Captain of the Dueling Team for our House.
I decided to look into doing these articles for two primary reasons; to - hopefully - teach you all on the background of some spells while also helping myself learn.
I'll admit; this season's been god-awful. A massacre. Overall, crappy.
So maybe by going in depth on some of these spells, it'll help me better understand and improve myself. That's my goal, anyway.
Alright! Now that any misunderstandings are outta the way, let's get down to business, shall we?
For the month of May, I wanna look at something that isn't used nearly as much as it could, but definitely has some interesting possibilities linked with it. I want to discuss with you all the Impervius Charm.
In order to do this, allow me to give some vital facts about it:
Incantation: Impervius
Pronunciation: im-PUR-vee-us
Type: Charm
Hand Movement: Tap target
Light: None
Effect: Repels water and mist
Don't ask me how it works on mist! I dunno, nor was I able to find instances of it working against mist.
This was first used by Miss Hermione Granger back in 1993 in order to keep Harry's glasses from getting too wet during a Quidditch match.
That being said, my first thoughts were something along the lines of maybe this could be used as a shield for the annoying nuisance known as Aqua Eructo, which is used to death in duels.
..... Don't get me wrong. It is strong. I've had my own wet experiences to know this first hand.
But there's only so many times shields can be used and successfully work, ya know?
So maybe this could be at least a decent substitute?
Just a thought.
Well, I think that'll do for now. I'm supposed to be resting. Suffice to say, both Madam Pomfrey and Atticus would be annoyed if they saw me writing instead of lying down so .... I'll do that.
Until next month,
Trinity Langton
