The Black Lake. You probably have many memories associated with the Black Lake: feeding the Giant Squid by throwing bread, the Giant Squid almost eating off your hand while feeding it because you were too foolish, swimming in the Black Lake on a dare, getting to Hogwarts for the first time on a boat across the Black lake, etc. You probably have some more memories, such as watching the second task of the 1995 Triwizard Tournament take place, actually getting your hand bitten off, riding the Giant Squid 'cause you wanted to, and some more.
But the Black Lake is also full of many dangers: the Giant Squid who seems to be very cheerful but might turn on you anytime, the Grindylows, the Mermen, the appearance of a wizarding pirate ship out of the Black Lake as the Durmstrang ship had appeared in the last Triwizard Tournament, and some other creatures. What if a muscular pirate throws a stick at you very hard? What if a Grindylow scratches you hard? Well, that is what this Potent Potions article is for, isn't it? We recommend many useful potions to you that might help you entertain yourselves, heal yourselves, and whatnot. Though, I've yet to receive an owl praising me for my choice of potions *sad noises*
Well, even though I haven't got an owl, I'm still gonna continue writing this article. So, starting off, we have the Grindylow Bites potion. Ever fancied a swim in the Black Lake? Did you go for a swim, and a Grindylow bit you? Well, no fear when the Grindylow Bites Potion is here! All bites you may have received from those pesky Grindylows are now healed. All you need to do is drop three to four drops of the potion in water and dissolve it well. Now, take a swig from it. After half an hour or so, your injuries should now be no longer hurt, and you should be well and good enough to walk and run. Well, now you can fearlessly go to that dreadful Black Lake without any fear of those Grindylows. Of course, the Grindylows may still bite you, but they can be healed now.
Next is the Merman-smell potion. Wanna go to the depths of Black Lake where the Mermen civilization is thriving? Get a look at the underwater houses? Discovered an underwater house that you'd very much like to buy, but is in the Mermen village, and you wanna blend in? Well, this is the perfect potion for you! A useless potion, whose probable uses are listed above, makes you smell exactly like a Merman. It doesn't do anything else. To breathe underwater. you would need to eat Gillyweed or cast a Bubble-Head charm. But, to blend into the Merman civilization as a human, this is the best potion out there! Smell like a Merman for a full hour for only five Galleons! Why anybody even invented this potion is well out of my realm of thinking.
The third and last potion in this list of potions to help you in the Black Lake is the Water Lotion! Well, this is more of a lotion than a potion, but they are very similar, so it qualifies to be here. This lotion prevents your skin from wrinkling by staying in the water for too long. There are some other things it protects you from, but I haven't studied enough Muggle science to know all that. Though, if you wanna know what else it protects your body from, you can simply read the sticker on the lotion bottle. Applying this lotion to your body is extremely simple: simply rub it on your body like every other lotion. This lotion is perhaps the most useful of all the three I've listed this far, so, well, give it a try. It's available in the Diagon Alley for only four Galleons and 8 Knuts.
Well, the list has come to an end. All the potions above are either useless or useful, like all my other lists of potions. It is just so damn hard to find the potions that match the monthly theme that I sometimes need to delve into the deepest parts of the SOUP library, which is saying something 'cause the SOUP library contains many books on potions.
Well, this is goodbye from me! Meet you in the next article.
