Legends Among Us
- Milena Racheli

Dearest readers,
Lately, I found myself in such strange places, only to find a place where the sun would shine and where I could have a holiday, for a change. However, such a place is difficult to find, as lately everywhere there seems to be rain or snow pouring down. And of course, I can't miss you, Slytherins. So it has to be somewhere nearby.
But here I am, once again looking for our newest Slytherin Legends. Perhaps this legend has more ideas and thoughts about a place that is still on my long list of places I would love to one day apparate to: Ireland.
To do this I was sent not to a faraway destination, but to our own Chamber of Secrets, far away in the castle, where I could still smell the basilisk! The Slytherin Legend of the month, MamaTheeSlytherin (MTS), like a true Heir of Slytherin, was wearing a lovely green Slytherin beanie hat that combined beautifully with a black hoody.
How odd but lovely it was to have a cup of tea in this place, where I felt both at home and immensely intrigued. Luckily the somewhat eerie background story of this chamber we could accompany with a whole huge bar of chocolate.

MR: Congratulations on being the Heir of Slytherin! How does it feel to be a Legend?
MTS: Thank you so much! It actually really touched me that I was nominated and I'm forever grateful and honoured! Being a proud Slytherin and doing whatever I can to earn HP is super important to me. I like the sound of being a legend though.

MR: Suppose you are taking all previous Legends of Slytherin for a trip to Ireland, where would you go and what would you like to do there?
MTS: I'd definitely take them to see Connemara, which is a spectacular wild landscape to the northwest of Galway. I'd also take them to nearby Kylemore Abbey, and Giant's Causeway in Antrim, because they are both places that are rich in history and legend. Giant's Causeway legend states that the hexagonal stones were laid by Irish warrior Fionn mac Cumaill to use as stepping stones across the water to fight the Scottish giant Benandonner! Also, a meal in the world's oldest pub would be a cool thing to do. Sean's Bar in Athlone has been serving alcohol to locals at the spot of the bar for as far back as 900 AD!

MR: What are some words that come up in your thoughts when you think about wizards in Ireland? Do you suppose there are many Legends amongst them?
MTS: Despite being a Gryffindor, Seamus Finnigan is a real wizarding legend of Ireland. Who else can follow a simple set of instructions and still melt his cauldron? That takes some skill. There's also a myth that Salazar Slytherin himself was of Irish descent, which just adds to his legendary status.

MR: What would be the most Legendary thing you would teach an Irish Terrier dog?
MTS: To do my laundry. It's possibly the worst job, and with three children, I have enough washing to equate to a small mountain.

MR: Suppose you time-travelled to the Celtic Era, what would you enjoy the most there?
MTS: I love this question! Personally, I think I'd love an internet-free life. Being more connected with nature, living off the land, a lifestyle that involved being outside a whole lot more. I would also love listening to the stories and legends that they could tell us, things that were passed by word of mouth, and slowly lost and distorted over time.

MR: And a lighter question, about the colour Green, what would you paint green if you could? This can be in the Celtic Era or in the current era.
MTS: Green is my favourite colour so I'd probably end up painting everything. I'd love to live in a green house! Inside and out, of course.

MR: Which Slytherin would you make a Liquid Luck for?
MTS: Lord Voldemort. Perhaps he would have been successful in his attempt to, not once but twice, take over the world.

How wonderful it was to get so inspired by MamaTheeSlytherin, a true Slytherin Legend who made me wish I had a time-turner so we could enjoy a world where we would be more connected to nature! It made me wish to take a walk in nature and think about the legends I met. It was lovely to meet another Slytherin Legend, and while I apparated away to a lovely green field somewhere, I dreamt about the Legends I met and those that are still to be met!

Love,
Milena Racheli
