Hi there, it's Katie_slytherin here and today we are taking a trip to the magical world of Disney! So take a seat, buckle up, and grab your bow and arrow because we are going to Scotland! That's right folks, we are jumping into the movie Brave! Today we will be talking with Brave expert LYRIA XIADA. How is she an expert you may ask? Well, she said that Brave was one of her favourite movies so that definitely makes her an expert. Oh, and before I forget, there may be some spoilers ahead so read on at your own risk!
Katie: Hello there, thank you so much for meeting with me today to talk about Disney's Brave! First up, who are your favourite characters and why?
Lyria: Probably gonna say her mother and her brothers
Katie: Haha yes, her three little mischievous brothers are definitely a fan favourite! I am rather surprised to hear that Queen Elinor is also one of your favourite characters, personally not one that I would have chosen but I do love how she learns to be a bear and uses her bear-ness to protect Merida! The part where she fights that other bear is one of my favourite scenes. What is your favourite part of the movie?Lyria: Probably when she and her mother (in bear form) actually bond a little more
Katie: It was great to see them bond and grow together. Next question, did you know that The Highland Games are actually a part of traditional Scottish culture?
Lyria: You learn something new every day. No, I didn't
Katie: That is absolutely right, you do learn something new every day! What do you know about Stone Circles in Scottish culture? Have you seen them in other Celtic movies?
Lyria: I don't much study Celtic/Scottish culture
Katie: That's okay, I had a few other cultural questions but we will skip over those, no worries. The Will O' The Wisps have a tie to Scottish tales, they lure travellers off their path. They can be seen as mischievous or as a way to help guide someone to their destiny. What role do you think they played in this film?
Lyria: They mostly helped Merida
Katie: I agree, well, there was probably a less harsh way to do it, but in the end, the lesson was learnt and all worked out well. What are some elements you liked about the film, any elements are fine such as music, costumes, movement detail, etc?
Lyria: The detail was amazing tbh
Katie: The detail was great, especially all of the things they had to do to get the detail for Merida's hair. Speaking of her, do you think Merida is a good role model?
Lyria: Yes! She's a girl who shows that you don't have to be dependent and a preppy princess
Katie: Yes, Merida is a great role model! Alright, my friend, last but not least, create an Acrostic poem for the word BRAVE!
Lyria:
Being independent
Rational and smart
Angry at the unfairness
Very resourceful
Ending turned out sweet
Katie: Awesome job! Thanks so much for meeting with me and for your incredibly quick owl. I will catch up with you later at the Eleda fan club (and at the meeting for the thing) *wink wink*
All right, folks, that wraps up this issue's Chatting With..! Thanks for reading, and thanks Lyria for coming to chat with us!
