Muggle music mania

The Weird Sisters. Celestina Warbeck. You know exactly who they are: the biggest names in the wizarding music industry. However, if I threw out names like Fall Out Boy or Muse, would you know what I was talking about? If you don't, you are horribly out of the loop! These are Muggle bands, and their catchy melodies are taking the Common Room by storm.
If you have spent any amount of time in the non-magical world, surely you have seen several Muggles walking around carrying tiny square machines plugged into their ears. Have you ever stopped to wonder what these strange contraptions are? Well, I am here to tell you! These devices are called iPods, and Muggles use them to listen to music! These tiny square boxes can store hundreds of albums and several thousand songs. Compared to our phonographs, this is quite an astounding invention. They don't even need records! Everything is stored “digitally,” which means the songs aren't even physical objects, but computer files (ask your Muggle Studies professor for a more in-depth explanation on computers. They are fascinating machines.)
Not only have Muggles made leaps and bounds in how they listen to music, the music itself is endlessly diverse. You have the futuristic beeps and bass of dubstep to the intense and blaring sounds of heavy metal, and Muggle music of every genre is finding a place in the hearts of young wizards and witches across the school. Where the records played were previously very limited, several students have taken to vinyl CDs released by beloved Muggle musicians. (Fortunately for us, Muggles haven't entirely abandoned the record yet.) On rare occasions, a student will even be found carrying one of the aforementioned iPods, modified to recharge by magic rather than Muggle electricity. (I'm told the incantation is “recreo.”) Students wear band t-shirts in their free time and hang posters in their dormitories. The trend is spreading like wildfire!
Take, for instance, members of our own beloved Slytherin Common Room. Just last week, I found Carrot (goingonegone) sitting in a corner of the common room listening to something by a man named Tim McGraw. “It's country music,” she told me. I wasn't really feeling it, but to each their own! Muggle music has something for everyone! Music like Seremedy is more my speed, the likes of which can be found by spending time with Beau (SeverusSnape97). There is also the previously mentioned group Fall Out Boy, back from a long hiatus and popular with users like our own Assistant Head of House, Beckett. No matter who you look at, everyone has a Muggle artist they're crazy about.
So, what are you waiting for? If you haven't bought into the Muggle music craze, it's about time you do! Grab one of your fellow musical housemates and educate yourself!
