Hello and welcome to our Legends Among Us 2.0 article here in the SOUP Offices. We have decided to turn our outer offices into a makeshift gallery of sorts for your viewing pleasure! Each month we shall endeavor to bring you delightful works from your fellow snakes who have been honored with our monthly awards across our various subforums.
So without further ado I invite you to join me at this month's gallery opening! First up, we have our beloved Heir of Slytherin for the month of May in 2023, Avis !
Hi, I am Avis. First I would like to say thank you for the honor to be this month's Heir of Slytherin. It was something bright on an otherwise dreary day. So, about me. I was sorted to Slytherin on old Pottermore in 2012 and have not looked back. I arrived at Hex just after the great Pottermore migration in January 2016. I am so proud to be a Slytherin and of all the hard work our snakes put in. I like to enter contests here on HEX and you may see me chat occasionally. Outside of HEX, I play a lot of Pokemon and Animal Crossing. I also read a lot of fan fiction. I spend a lot of time taking care of my cats and my dog. Go Slytherin!
Next, we move on to our Snakelet of the Month in May 2023, Em !
Hi, I'm Em, known better by my username itsshadow. I'm a Slytherin through and through, but I've got the wit of a Ravenclaw, the hotheadedness of a Gryffindor, and the loyalty of a Hufflepuff. Above all else, though, I've got ambition. I found my way to HEX completely by accident, which is to say that I stumbled across a Pinterest pin talking about how wonderful this website is. I've spent nearly a year here, and it's safe to say that I genuinely found a home. Thanks to everyone here who's been welcoming and understanding. Much love. - Em

I've fallen a bit out of Harry Potter fandom (though it will always have a place in my heart), but my obsession of the last two years and counting has been Sk8 the Infinity. In particular, I've fallen in love with the character of Ainosuke "ADAM" Shindo, who I can relate to greatly. (And for those of you who remember my dueling years, has a lot in common with my duelist, Nathaniel.) His character development/growth through the show is something that I admire and tried to illustrate in the AMV, which is the first one I've ever created. So he's been helping me to grow as well, on a creative level and a personal one. I highly recommend the show, which is widely interpreted in Western fandom as a LGBTQ+ allegory, for very good reason, but is an incredible story even without that lens.

How about we hop on over to an offering from the winner of our Community Hero award in May 2023, Amy !
Hi! I'm Amy T. otherwise known as Amity CatWalnut. I came here in the mass exodus from PM with my friends in September 2015. This means that within two weeks of joining, I already had tons of familiar HEX friends. HEX has been a wonderful sanctuary from the real world and has provided a lot of camaraderie and tons of activities to keep us all occupied.
I've also used HEX graphic contests to prod myself to start drawing again after an over 30-year hiatus. One of the biggest treats for me here on HEX is to see other people put up their graphic creations. To me, concept is as important, if not more important, than technical prowess. It is exciting to see how people's minds work and the techniques that they decide upon to express those concepts.
In Real Life, I'm a mother of 2. I retired early-ish from the field of architecture due to health problems but did work in the field full-time from my graduation in 1981 until my birthday on July 2021. The drawing attached depicts how I felt when I was on hold for a very long time with the Social Security Administration regarding my Medicare application. Yup. It's that time in my life. I turn 65 this year. (No, that is not a self-portrait.)
Last, but certainly not least, we leave you with this submission written by our Noble Slytherin in May 2023, Dizzy !
One of my favorite forms of art is line art. Instead of coloring in pictures, I like to trace them. I did an Egyptian cat picture for this month's ancient theme! Thank you to everyone for being amazing and making HEX such an amazing place! -Dizzy
I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we wholeheartedly thank each of these brave souls for sharing a bit of themselves with us! Artwork in every form is usually something quite personal to each of us. We here at SOUP absolutely send our deepest gratitude and love to each of these amazing people!
Join me next month as we take a deeper dive into our next award winners in the noble house of Slytherin! This is your resident feline Editor, signing off as it's time for a cat nap!
