"You might want to watch where you put those old parchments! Surely you remember that we've got a dragon on staff? The whole office is likely to burn down otherwise..."
Which would actually be quite impressive as we're surrounded by stone down in the dungeons... All thoughts about pyrotechnics began to fade as I looked down at my desk in my shadowy corner. "Summer gatherings. Ugh. So broad. Apparently I don't like any theme, not even ones I come up with and present to the other editors." With a theme as wide open as this one, I needed to call in a favor to our friendly neighborhood slug, even if she is a Ravenclaw.
As I approached the slug's favorite hidey hole, mind awhirl with so many ideas, a feeling of dread washed over me as I spotted a piece of parchment stuck to the wall.
KITTEN, I've been SLUGNAPPED by a Dragon to go camping. SAVE ME PLEASE!
Stopping myself from the incredible urge to bang my head off of the stone alcove, I turn in dejected fashion and trudge back towards my office. "Dragon's article hasn't even been turned in and yet she decides to go camping? With the Slug? I bet she's going out into the field looking for inspiration, surely she realizes that our Slug doesn't even like the Great Outdoors... OH! THAT'S IT!" Just like that inspiration struck and it was then a mad dash back to my desk to write my recipe article.
I probably looked like a feral Kneazle as I tore through the office doors and immediately began rifling through our file cabinet. "It's gotta be here somewhere. I mean, it was a major international incident what with the cabbages floating around and the potatoes being flung at all living things in sight, Muggles included," I muttered mostly to myself as I tore open the bottom-most drawer. "Aha! Bubble and Squeak! That's it!"
INGREDIENTS:
1 small head of cabbage or 1/2 large head, chopped
5 medium potatoes, sliced in bite size wheels
1 or 2 Polish or Kielbasa type sausages
1 cup water
INSTRUCTIONS:
In a large pot or frying pan, layer chopped cabbage, potatoes, sausage, then repeat until all ingredients are used. Add water, cover, and simmer until cabbage and potatoes and sausages are cooked; probably about 15 or 20 minutes.
Servings:4 to 6 big servings, 8 to 10 small servings
The ink had barely begun to dry on the parchment by the time I raced out of the office doors. I had a slug to go save after all...let's hope the Dragon remembered to not pack any salt in her bag.
