As it begins to warm up finally, old faces begin to emerge.
Birds are gleefully chirping, trees are in full bloom. Oh, speaking for trees, I have a surprise for you all. We have a special Legend Among Us today! He has spent a greatly many years amongst the gorgeous trees of summer. Cherry trees are definitely a favorite when they bloom. Also, they are a great wand wood. Oops, did I say wand wood? Oh bother, the cat is nearly out of the bag now. Our special guest is none other then the wandmaking legend himself, Garrick Ollivander!
S - Mr. Ollivander I'm so glad you are joining us today. I know you are very busy this time of year. Preparing for a new school year is no easy task.
G.O - Why my dear, thank you for having me. Many new students will dawn the halls of Hogwarts soon. I will make sure they are prepared with the most suitable wand. A wizard without the proper wand could cause great danger.
S - I wouldn't want to think of the consequences the wrong wand could have. So, Mr. Ollivander, which wand wood is your favorite to use?
G.O - I have no favorites in wood Miss Salazia. The wood and wand core speak to me. Whispers of you will. There is a harmony in each that I find. Take your wand for example. Hornbeam, mine is as well very multitalented wood, it suits you. Viktor Krum's wand is Hornbeam as well. Hornbeam chooses witches and wizards with passion, almost obsessive passion at times and vision. They adapt very quickly to their wielder. Extremely difficult for others to use once they've bonded with a particular person. I couldn't use your wand or you mine. Even though they are the same wood. It’s their characteristics that bring a certain charm. Hornbeam also absorbs your honor. If it doesn't feel like committing an act the wand knows you wouldn't, it simply doesn't. Or at least not as strongly. Hornbeam tends to know the wielder astonishingly.
S - I believe that entirely. I feel everything you have said.
G.O - Well, it has been my life's passion . Laurel wood wouldn't fit you. Many woods wouldn't fit you. That is why you try many, if need be, in my shop. Like pear wood, it's never been in possession of a dark wizard. The wand does choose the wizard. It knows things we will never understand.
Unicorn hair is your core. I highly doubt you could ever be a dark witch. You have a very faithful wand Miss. The core and wood suggest I shall be awaiting remarkable things from you.
S - I shall aspire to do remarkable things then, Mr. Ollivander. That is so useful everything you have mentioned. Do you have any plans for summer? Besides wand making of course.
G.O - Nothing that stands out at the moment. I will be in deer hunt of Bowtruckles for some time. I would intend love to watch the Quidditch tryouts this summer. It’s always been a favorite pastime of mine. I didn't play but do enjoy a good match.
S - I know I'll be at tryouts. I hope to see you there Sir. I believe this year's will bring some amazing talent out. I've heard rumor it will be a blast.
G.O - A blast you say? Well, perhaps I may make an appearance. Oh, look at the time! I've got to run. Appointments at the shop you know. I've enjoyed our time today and hope we can do this again in the future. Maybe bring me another wand?
S - Oh, it is understandable. I will try to see if I can borrow a wand for you Mr. Ollivander. Thank you for joining Legends Among Us.
Well, everyone, I hoped you loved learning about wands. I know summer is time to be in the sun but I may stay inside to learn more about the fascinating subject. Maybe get a tan reading about dragon-heart strings? Oh, don't forget Quidditch tryouts! I hope to see all of you snakes at the pitch. I know I might bring my broom and give it a try. Before I forget, if you'd like Mr. Ollivander to examine your wand send me an owl! Who knows, he might examine your wand for Legends Among Us!
Until next time, stay mean , green, wand wielding machines my snakelings!
