Running a hand through his blond hair, Draco sighed. These days were always fixed with angst and worry but he was determined to make this summer gathering one to remember. He wished there was something he could do for his dear Astoria, but it was impossible to find a cure for the blood curse that had been placed upon her ancestor. Malfoy had to make sure this celebration went well; for his son's sake as much as his own.
As he stepped outside, Lucius approached him. Draco knew his parents had never approved of Astoria or his change of attitude. "I don't want to hear it, Father," Draco muttered as his grey eyes swept around the grounds of Malfoy Manor. "This is for my wife and son, and they are welcome to invite who they want." Striding down onto the lawn, he went to help his mother set up the barbecue. At least she had had the courtesy to keep her mouth shut.
He knew Scorpius had invited Albus. Draco may not have been friendly towards Harry Potter during their school days, but he certainly didn't have an issue with his son inviting Potter's. They were housemates after all. What he didn't realize, however, was that the entire clan was coming; that was one detail Astoria had left out.
Barely five minutes later, the Potters were walking towards them. Straightening his jacket, Draco went to meet them and grasped Harry's hand in greeting. "Welcome," he greeted boldly. "My wife and mother have prepared everything." Watching both families exchange pleasantries, he locked eyes with Scorpius and smiled softly. Draco only wanted the best for Astoria and their son, so he was going to try to bury the hatchet. This was going to be a good day.
