Mirror, mirror on the wall, thanks for nothing!
By Kay
This is a story I've sworn not to tell. But for some unholy reason, I've decided to spill my guts on a public paper. I blame the mirror. You should always blame the mirror.
The school term was ending. Parties, food, and the beach were on my agenda. I've been to so many parties this summer, I lost count. Not in a dazed hangover kind of memory loss, but everything was mashed into one awesome blur. But there was this one party that I was looking forward to. It was a party at the Malfoy Manor and by invitation only.
I was honoured and proud to have been invited. After all, I AM a Slytherin; an awesome one at that. So, I began my week long journey putting together a mind blowing outfit. I had to go big or go home. I chose to go big, naturally.
I bought an amazing silver purse that went swimmingly with these gorgeous, emerald drop earrings that would make Pansy's eyes roll back in their sockets. For the piece de resistance, a long green dress with full sleeves. It was sequinned and slinky, but most importantly, it had a large snake motif starting from the left hip up all the way to the right shoulder. It was FIERCE!
Of course, like any other sane woman, I tried the dress a few hundred times to see how the ensemble looked in the mirror. I was very pleased with how it looked. I channelled a nastier, naughtier, and of course sexier Bellatrix Lestrange.
The day finally arrived. I put on my dress, and I had my hair up in a bun to show off my mesmerizing earrings to all the envious Slytherin girls. A bit of makeup and a whole lot of perfume, I was ready to be the talk of the town!
I arrived at Malfoy Manor fashionably late. I saw Pansy eyeing my earrings. I walked in a slightly slow and steady pace, just to give everyone a chance to appreciate my ensemble. I stood by the champagne fountain and looked around for a sign of that hunky Draco Malfoy.
My heart thumped when I saw him walking towards me with a huge smile on his face. He escorted me to the section of the garden where group photographs were taken. He gathered a few more people and insisted we take the photographs now before night time arrived. I stood there beside him and posed my heart out. The party continued on, and I had the best night of my life. Draco thanked those who came and promised to send all of us a copy of the photograph we took earlier.
The next morning, I woke up to the sound of an owl scratching at my window. I opened the window and took a rather large envelope from the barn owl and watched as it flew away. I tore the envelope and pulled out the photograph.
Tears began to form in the corners of my eyes. In that photograph was me, with only my head visible with what looked like a silver snake slithering up to my neck.
Why?
It was because my dress colour matched the high hedges behind us when the photograph was taken. That was why people were staring at me. Since there were hedges all around the manor, I must've looked like a floating head held up by a silver snake.
Wonderful...
Well, this is the end of my story. I must return to my little hole where I live out my embarrassing life.
Utterly ruined for the next school term,
Kay.
