End Of Term
By Nicole
Obviously you all know what the end of term means for a wizarding student, but what about for a muggle student? I am lucky enough to have a muggle friend back in the States who still talks to me even though I'm attending a ‘private academy in the United Kingdom', which to all of us, is known as Hogwarts. Now, I'm definitely proud and very happy to be a student of Hogwarts, but I find the muggle way of life a bit interesting, especially their education. And yes, I'm a Slytherin. I said interesting, and I'm most certainly not going to go all muggle on you guys.
Anyways, back to the point. I was able to talk to my muggle friend from the States about her end of term. Though, she doesn't call it that. ‘End of the school year'. But for her it wasn't just the end of the school year. It was the end of her high school years, which as she explained to me, is what they have before they get a job or go to college-whatever. The levels of schooling are too confusing for me. I'll just take my 7 years at Hogwarts, thank you very much.
I could tell from her tone that she was both happy and uneasy about her graduating and moving on. My timing was perfect, as I had contacted her about his after she had graduated and had a party (sometimes called an open house and is a way of celebrating the graduation). Her school had a lot of graduating students, she said and each and every one of them had to walk across the stage. She hadn't said so, but I could tell she had been nervous about and I would be too. I'd be more nervous doing that than trying to apparate for the first time (which from experience, ended with me splinching myself. Horrible!).
She sent me some photographs of her graduation and party. I was confused when they didn't move and had to remind myself that she was a muggle and didn't have our amazing moving pictures. It looked fun enough and a special time, but didn't seem too exciting, more nerve wracking than anything.
So I continued to question her, which probably made her think that the muggle schools over here were extremely different from over there...and I have no idea if they are. As we continued, she shared with me something called ‘Senior Prank Day', and Merlin, did that sound fun! Just imagine all the different pranks that could be used. It really called to my evil side. Though, the muggle version didn't sound as spectacular as it could've been. Basically, the graduating class has a day where they prank everyone else in the school by doing whatever they want. She said something about some sort of oil on the steps and putting goats on the school roof.
I think we should have some sort of prank day. It'd be awesome! I mean, there is some talk of a rebellion with the use of pranks, but a prank day seems more special. Maybe it's more organized or something. Slytherin, let's do it next year. For a whole day, let's just prank the rest of the houses...especially those Ravenclaws. They've been getting under my skin, thinking they can take the House Cup away from us.
Finding out this information, I stopped questioning my friend and promised to visit. Immediately I wrote down in my little secret plan book some ideas that I was already having for the end of next term for a hopefully official Slytherin Prank Day. You should send me an owl if you wish to participate. The more, the merrier. Or in this case, the more, the awesomer. Yes, that is a word, don't question it.
