Plans of summer are igniting. Festivals, and fun to be had. But here I am, sitting in my cozy cubicle of SOUP pondering one thing: Death. Well, possibly two things. The second being Horcruxs. This month, Legends Among Us, is a little darker.
I, for one, am slightly obsessed with these objects. Perhaps not as much as good ole Voldy was. I will "Always" have a passion for it. As I can not bring back the dead, foolish Harry breaking that marvelous wand I want I will settle for someone alive. Someone who knows a thing or two about The Hallows. As Death himself is to busy, Mr. Ollivander returns to discuss the Elder wand.
S. - Welcome back Sir. What can you tell us about the Wand of Destiny?
G.O. - My Dear, so much and so little is known about this wand. Now, there is great speculation. Though, who knows exactly what is or isn't true. I, myself, have theories or know little.
S. - Theories, Sir? What are they? If you don't mind my asking. Which theory is most plausible?
G.O. - In The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Death made that wand rather quickly. He is Death, after all. But, I believe it may have very possibly been Death's own personal wand. That's why most wielding the wand could not handle it. Nor, did it ever work properly. Not how a wand should anyway.
S. - That's fascinating! So Death gave his personal wand away to manipulate the entire situation. He knew it would cause the harm it did?
G.O. - Exactly! Death can not be cheated. He will always win. This was a clever why to secure his victory. Now, as for the other Hallows, I'm not as certain. I don't craft stones or cloaks. Theories still, but none I can possibly prove my point.
S. - Would you mind sharing those as well Sir?
G.O. - Well, it isn't much. The Invisibility Cloak, a hair of Death or his immortal pet Demiguise. Something immortal is the fiber. Though the pet is highly unlikely. But somehow, Death created it.
The Resurrection Stone, this one is tricky. It was a Horcrux as well - The Gaunt Ring. I believe, Death wanted to use the Dark Lord. After all, less people he must mingle with. Though, the Dark Lord was already down his path of madness, the stone intensified that want. Why did Death not take the Stone back when he took Cadmus? Who had the Stone? I believe his lover, was possibly a Slytherin Heir. We don't know how she died, possibly child birth. Which, the child would be both a Slytherin and Peverell. The Stone may have felt the child worry. Cadmus drinks a poison, but what happened to this child? Perhaps Death raised it as his own? Death can take on any form. So would he raise one of worthy blood? Perhaps, with the Gaunt past we know, that is why the Dark Lord was obsessed. Death wanted his possession back. But I do doubt that possible.
S. - It's all very interesting, Sir. I'm sure one day we may know more. It seems the Hallows show up through history, even when lost. Now, mind telling us your thoughts on the wand? After all, you are a brilliant wand maker.
G.O - With the flattery again? Being the first Hallow, Death made it the most powerful.
Well, with the wand core, only those who have experienced death would be able to wield this wand. The magic is definitely stronger for those. Thestrals hair, this is the only wand with that core. As I said before, I believe Death created this wand. No ancestors of mine nor Gregorovitch could have been skilled enough for this one. Elder wood, it is the rarest of all the woods. Highly tricky to master. Not a prosperous wood. Those chosen by Elder wands are marked by destiny.
One last theory before I take my leave. Antioch didn't defeat Death. Death allowed them to think they won. So, the power we know the wand to have, is nothing compared to what it truly is. Think on that. Rather scary isn't it?
S. - I'm sorry you have to leave Sir. I hope you will return once more.
Mr. Ollivander gave us some things to think on. The Deathly Hallows are just that, Deadly. So, before you go hunting for them. Think about it. They are better left hidden.
-Until the next issue my snakelings,
Sal
