To Become Legend

By Hav

The Iron Lords once pledged our lives to protect humanity. We once thought that it would save us. Instead, it turned against us. One by one, we fell, until at least we sealed it away. But what we buried long ago has been unearthed by an army of scavengers. The Irons’ bane has returned.

Bungie’s Destiny returns for year three with The Rise of Iron, which launches September 9, 2016. It will present more as a patch with a plethora of updates and new content than an entire game similar to the release of The Taken King. So far, the developers have been releasing patches to up the ante and prep for the Rise of Iron. In the last patch, we were introduced to three new colors for chroma and specktar gear: orange, green, and magenta! The supercharges have also exponentially been buffed - I can honestly say I am rather enjoying Gunslinger a bit more now with the combination of my Celestial Nighthawk helmet and the increased power of the golden gun. With one bullet, I can now take out half to three fourths of a major’s health as opposed to using my entire arsenal and still looking at that dreadful full health bar and cursing my hunter to the Scablands and back.

Oh, and as a shweeeeeet additional bonus - the new game will feature a return of year one favorite Gjallarhorn. For a preorder of the new game, quest will become unlocked that will allow guardians to complete content to earn the shiny new year three Gjallarhorn. It comes in two tasty options - Iron or White. Go ahead and get your favorite shaders ready to roll, guardians.

However, the main focus of the new game is on our favorite Lord Saladin, Iron Lord. He is such a mysterious guardian who pushes us to our limits in the Crucible (and let’s be honest, he gives great gear. I am rather enjoying my chest plate with Ruin Wings). Though it is an interesting journey how he became the guardian with the iron fist.

The game will focus on Lord Saladin as the remaining of seven original Iron Lords. The Iron Lords earned their regards and titles through their brave deeds and service in the Battle of Twilight Gap. This was the last major battle prior to day one of Destiny as we know it. It decimated the Earth and created the Cosmodrome and Tower as they are seen today. Theorists believe that while the Cosmodrome is the ruins of Russia, the Tower is somewhere around the shores of the Caspian Sea overlooking the ruins.

Those seven lords were Felwinder, Jolder, Skorri, Timur, Radegast, Gheleon, and Saladin. Much like a step back in time to follow in the footsteps of Praedyth and Kabir’s fire team to investigate the Vex collective mind, we will follow the Iron Lords to uncover their brave, untimely ends to save the rest of the guardians from the plague that the Fallen have now released once again.

This plague is named SIVA. We’re not quite sure what it stands for just yet, but it is some sort of self replicating nano technology with a mind all it’s own. The Iron Lords gave their lives, one by one, to ensure that it was hidden away with no chance of ever being found. Until now. Now, it has returned and it is in the hands of the Fallen.

Fallen can now regenerate - and using SIVA, the Dregs who have been denied their second set of arms and crippled for life from their society, have reshown their ugly faces with mechanical upgrades. This motley crew of biological machinery is taking the entire Cosmodrome by storm. For now, it is as useful as the Iron Lords predicted - but soon it will once again become a plague that the Fallen do not understand.

Yet, the Fallen do not care. They are out for blood with this new found weapon at their arsenal. The House of Devils’ lost a servitor, one of their machine gods, and will do anything to bring down the guardians for it’s loss.

It is up to the newest generation of guardians to make the fateful journey to Felwinter’s Peak through the ice and snow to find the answers to stop SIVA and the Fallen in their tracks before it is too late. Lord Saladin can only do so much and needs your help to prevent what the Iron Lords gave their lives to prevent. It won’t be easy, but the most talented guardians have been summoned - and you are the next candidate to become an Iron Lord, hand selected by Lord Saladin himself.

For you were awoken to become legend. A special thanks to my fiance Jer for the assistance with sorting through grimore.
