Spell and Potion of The Month

The month of July marks two events - 1) the birth of the wizarding hero Harry Potter and 2) the start of the IHC (Inter House Competition).

Since Harry Potter was a Gryffindor and the fact that we Slytherins are going to be working together with his house to win the IHC, it seems a fitting time to mention Harry Potter's favorite spell this time around. That spell is Expelliarmus, known to many of us as the Disarming Spell.

There is nothing fancy about this spell; its purpose is simply to force an opponent to release their wand. Occasionally it serves to block other spells, but it is generally used only for disarming purposes and usually in duels. Luck must have truly been on Potter's side when he beat the Dark Lord with this basic spell. We all know there were other factors involved in that duel, and that there was no way Potter could have won had he not somehow mastered the Elder Wand (AKA most powerful wand ever made). It would seem that the effects of Felix Felicis last longer than expected; in my opinion. Or maybe Potter just had a few drops left over for the occasion.

With all that in mind, I'm going to also declare Felix Felicis as the Potion of the Month, AGAIN. I really do need to get a hold of some of that stuff!

So here's to Expelliarmus, Felix Felicis and Harry Potter, "greatest" wizard of our times. Cheers!
