Celebration and Art-R e d & G r e e n
By The Fire-Kissed Lady
It's now summer. Really summer. Birthdays and celebrations seem to pop out like eager daisies. And yes, my own including – but I'd rather think of it as wildflower rather than a daisy for the simple fact that the latter was one I never properly managed to plant in my garden.
Anyhow. With the pleasant, sunny weather (to the taste of many, not really mine), all the free time, ice cream and media constantly nudging towards fun (have you seen the new ads for magical holidays?! And for just a paltry!) – every moment becomes a celebration. Especially with actual celebrations happening every few days.
Such it goes the lazily festive spirit floating about turned out to inspire something quite different in the here present Slytherin lass.
Creativity.
Which bring us to the second part of the tale and not coincidentally, another part of a typical Slytherin's personality.
Competitiveness.
So, what do these two add up to?
Well, the summer Inter-House Competition, of course.
Both a display of our noble House's prestige, superiority, wit and artistic inclination. But also a celebration of unity, as we are being paired up with the other House with which we've had not so friendly history, Gryffindor. Needless to say, the first and second greatest Houses in the annals of Hogwarts (what? A subtle hint about Slytherin being the very best? Why, I never…) will wave the other two amiably from a nice, safe distance as we rapidly approach our rightful winning position.
If you're a Snake or a Lion, I expect you to go cheer loudly (but elegantly - please Gryffindors...) sporting red and green. Yes, now. And yes, especially green.
Until then, avoiding Dementors roaming Hogsmeade and Knockturn Alley, practicing creative skills with daubs of digital paint and collage, and occasionally sprouting bits of poetry at random intervals is how this red-kissed lady is spending her sun drops of summer.
Oh, what did I forget?
*grumbles unintelligibly*
Happy birthday, Harry Potter!
I hope that karma really takes note of my solidarity and team spirit because we'd better win. We, Slytherins, deserve have no less.
Signing off to get back to her paints, ink and parchment and bask in the glory of her House,
