Resolute Resolutions
- Katie_slytherin

Katie banged her head against the wall as she picked up her new SOUP assignment. Resolutions???? But they aren't real? They don't actually exist? How am I supposed to write about them?

Making her way back to her office, with her black robes decorated with snowflakes billowing behind her, Katie smiled evilly, knowing she was going to torture an innocent Slytherin this month. The only question was which unlucky snake? Looking at her list, she finally landed on a new name. Hmmm. . .This will do.

Happy New Year, friends, it's Katie_slytherin here once again bringing you the first edition of 'Chatting With . . . ' this New Year! Today I have a super snake, Anne, here with me today. We will be delving into the myths of New Years' Resolutions. So buckle your seatbelts, hold onto your butts, and prepare to delve into January traditions!

Katie: Hi there, Anne, it's great to have you here with us, thank you so much for meeting with me today to talk about the mythical world of the resolutions! Let's start off with yourself: do you set New Year's resolutions for yourself?

Anne: I normally don't set a resolution, but I do set a reading goal. But I think I may set a resolution this year!

Katie: Oooo, a reading goal, very interesting. So what exactly is going to be your resolution for this year?

Anne: This year, I want to read 45 books, and I want to take a daily walk outside.

Katie: That sounds like a very healthy goal! I bet you could read 50 books! Now for a fun question! What do you think Draco Malfoy's New Year's resolution would be?

Anne: Draco would probably resolve to come up with more clever comebacks for people.

Katie: Maybe he can come up with something more than 'my father will hear about this'. . . speaking of fancy people, do you think Slughorn hosted a new years party?

Anne: I have to imagine he did! Can't imagine he would let an opportunity for a party go to waste!

Katie: I'd imagine that as well! OH! Do you think the Dark Lord made the Death Eaters create a list of goals?!

Anne: Hmm... I don't think he did because he would've just wanted everyone's goals to be his goals. LOL

Katie: Well, how do you think wizards, in general, celebrate the New Year?

Anne: I can just imagine wizards having some very fun new years foods and staying up all night using magical fireworks and having an absolute blast!

Katie: Alright, and what are some New Year's resolutions a wizard might set for themselves?

Anne: I think that, like muggles, some may resolve to be more physically active, so there are a ton of quidditch resolutions. I would also think that some may resolve to practice some particular charms or spells more often.

Katie: Do you think wizards are better or worse at keeping their resolutions than muggles?

Anne: Muggles are pretty bad at keeping their resolutions, so I imagine they can't be any worse!

Katie: Haha, solid logic there! Do you think New Year's resolutions are a part of wizarding culture?

Anne: I feel like wizards heard about New Year's resolutions, and many have added them to their traditions.

Katie: And well, since we've spent this whole segment talking about resolutions, I feel like I should ask you what your opinion is on new years resolutions.

Anne: I think they are well intended, but I don't think anyone should feel pressured to have one! New Year is a lovely holiday, but it's just a change of calendar -- you don't have to reinvent yourself!

Katie: What wonderful ending advice, I think we can all agree on that!

All right, folks, that wraps up this issue's Chatting With...! Thanks for reading, and thank you, DENOVOREVIEW, for agreeing to chat with me!

Until I reemerge from my cave again, this is goodbye from your favourite socktastically pureblooded Slytherin!
