Okay, so at first glance, glitter might not seem to be my thing. For those of you who might not know me, I'm a fifth-year lad who fancies flying and Quidditch and is generally not into glitz and glam stuff. No offence to those who are - it's just not my personal taste. I far prefer quick, easy, and comfortable. I heard some rumor about sparkling vampires or something - but while I do find vamps interesting on the whole, I have serious trouble with the idea that they are glittery. I mean - doesn't that defeat the whole purpose? So, yeah. Not exactly a glitter guy.
However, that said? There are two times when glitter is just downright amazing. The first is - well, okay. Don't tell Hoochie-mama about this, right? It's just our little secret. But here's the deal. Glitter is fantastic when you're playing Quidditch. There's all sorts of cool stuff you can do with it! For example, I remember one wonderful scrimmage where my partners-in-crime and I glitterfied our brooms so that the light would dazzle the opponents and keep them from being able to focus on us directly. Then there was the time that I bewitched my tail twigs to shoot small balls of glitter out at random intervals, tricking the other Seeker into thinking they were Snitches. That was amazing on two levels - first, it worked and second, I didn't even get caught at it. It was just my dumb luck that the actual Snitch showed up right next to one of my carefully crafted glitterballs and the Rav - er - the other team's Seeker grabbed it before I could. There was one other prank I had in mind involving little bags of rainbow-colored glitter... but I'll save that one for a future surprise.
But that's only one time - the Quidditch time, that is. And that's not even my favorite time to use glitter. The biggest and best time that glitter is amazing? Is in fireworks! I'm telling you all right now - glitter-infused fireworks are the way to go. I'm so surprised that neither the Weasleys nor Filibuster ever cottoned on to this detail - but I've been doing some experimenting with their basic stock and I've discovered that if you add in a handful of Dusty's Delightful Glitter Goo - you know the stuff I mean? It's basically stringy strands of glitter-infused slime. But what I noticed is that in the presence of heat, the goo expands and releases all the glitter. Backed by the explosion of the firework and enhanced by the colored powder - the goo actually acts as an Engorgio Charm on the glitter, making it both bigger and brighter. That's key because way up in the sky like that? Regular glitter would just get lost. But this stuff looks like waves of super-colored glitter blanketing the sky and it is flat-out intense.
Awww, nuts. I'm sorry. I've probably given you all far more details than you needed to know about the super coolness of firew - I mean, of glitter. But I just thought you all ought to know that glitter is far more than some sparkly stuff in makeup or whatever. It can be seriously amazing if you know how to work with it!
