Perusing Poetry
- Kitten

Hey y'all! I wanted to do something different this time around. A new-year, new-me type of deal I suppose. Haiku comes easy to me and can be just as wacky and weird as I am at times, but I wanted a new challenge. So I found a website to teach me about other forms of poetry. The one that resonated with me the most right was that of the Petrarchan Sonnet. Think Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Sonnet Number 43, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." For more information on what a Petrarchan Sonnet is please use the link at the end of this article.¹

So I bring to you an in-depth look at what has been happening in the SOUP offices behind the scenes/quills... Prepare yourself, as I said above I can be both weird and wacky.

A Kitten's Sonnet
Nowadays it's hard to find any semblance of peace
The SOUP offices are zanier than ever before
Full of shenanigans and pranks galore
I find myself wishing it would all just cease
Giant squids, pecking owls, even some honking geese
Are in my office instead of the not-so-distant shore
Is this the eye of the storm or is there even more
Can someone remind me why I did not take that job in Nice?

The French Riviera sounds utterly divine
Perhaps a vacation would give me a spark
One that is louder than the coo of a dove
Then I see a photo, one that is mine
That sparkles and glitters, nay glows in the dark
Full of words and snakes and friends that I love.
