Welcome back to another edition of News & Noteworthy!
This time relating to all that glitter... Sort of. I guess it's fitting with it being a celebratory month for many cultures, religions, and areas? I mean I can't speak for other traditions outside of Christmas and New Year's Eve, but those are both fairly glittery. Ish. Although I suppose this is January's issue and not December's... But that doesn't matter! It's December as I'm writing this!!
What I've realized, it's difficult to write news for the future, so we're discussing news from the past (as... you, the reader, reads this anyway).
We're currently holding HEXmas, HEX's version of Christmas. We have Santa daily money, where we get galleons up to 110k! That's quite impressive, isn't it? We're also tending to our poinsettias, which have huge ranges, but some lucky people can get up to 1.4M for a singular plant. If you ask me, that's a bit silly. It also means we have the HEXmas lottery, with 28 prizes! There's a lot of fancy items in there too which I'm sure users will be fighting for.
Dumbledore's Office is holding a Holiday's Participation Raffle, for which January's contests will actually still count! This event comes with HEXian Appreciation where users nominate superlatives, and Holidays at Hogwarts where users roleplay together. They also held their annual Buddy Groups again, which is of course super exciting.
Now.. I can't think of more to discuss with you all, which is a bit saddening, but we can talk about happenings within the Harry Potter series? And then hopefully I will have more news & noteworthy things to report for you, next month.
In 1991, Harry received the invisibility cloak that belonged to his family, given by Albus Dumbledore. This was during his 1st year at Hogwarts and was an incredible gift. The cloak was very old and once belonged to Harry's father. The cloak was given to him on December 25th.
In 1995, after Arthur Weasley had been attacked by Nagini, he had to stay at St Mungo's for a while. The attack had happened in the Department of Mysteries. Luckily he got to return home during December though! However, we're not fully sure at what point during the month.
On the 24th of December 1997, Harry and Hermione got attacked by Nagini too, who had been impersonating Bathilda Bagshot. During this attack, Harry's wand broke from a blasting curse, cast by Hermione.
There were also a few December birthdays! From Rubeus Hagrid and Griselda Harmonia Jorkins who were born December 6th, to Charles Weasley who was born December 12th, and Tom Marvolo Riddle who was born December 31st.
Sadly, there were also a few deaths... Henry Shaw Jr died on the same day Hagrid and Jorkins were born, Mary Lou Barebone and Chastity Barebone both died the next day, and Merope Gaunt died the same day Tom Riddle was born.
This is goodbye for now. This time not from your favourite pureblood Slytherin, but hopefully your favourite fox! - Fox
