What the hell are you thinking?
Not you, dear readers, but the creators of the newest 007 movie. Perhaps you know what I am talking about, and if not please feel free to crawl out from whatever rock you have been living under (as I have). Once someone was finally able to remove the blinders on me that prevented me from hearing of this monstrosity.
But what is wrong with another James Bond movie, you must be wondering. How about a James Bond movie with a female 007? That is something we have never needed. Sure a female Double 0 could have been good, but to replace Ian Fleming's iconic James Bond with a female is just wrong on so many levels.
For those as stunned speechless as I am, let us instead find the words of others all as horrified at the prospect as we are. They were found on a lovely little site called Twitter.
~ "It's fine to want to create a Jane Bond but to want replace James with Jane is overboard #JamesBond #JaneBond"
~ "What next Gary Poppins or Harriet Potter ? #janebond"
~ "#JaneBond why is this even a thing? The 007 Agent is a British institution. AND MALE. #JamesBond"
Now there are some who support this change:
~ "People going on about #JaneBond have been suckered into being angry about nothing."
~ "Bet they're the same people that got upset when Doctor Who became a woman"
~ "Let's have #JamesBond as a woman. It would be interesting to explore the character from a different perspective. I would go to see it."
Others still think it could be good, as long as they handle it right.
~ "OK, I'm ready for the hate tweets but as a woman who loves the James Bond franchise, I have to ask... why? James Bond was written as a man, not a woman. I am, however, all for a NEW character like Bond who is a woman. Hell yeah! All in for Jamie Bond, James' daughter!"
Personally, I like this suggestion, it is too bad that doesn't seem to be how they are going.
Guess we will see what happens when it comes out -will the newest heroine in a long legacy of them be a hit or a miss?
I for one hope there is a Jamie Bond one day! I would watch the hell out of that.
