SOUP :: Raise a Glass :: January 2014

Letter From The Editor

By Deidra

Dearest Slytherin,

I don’t know about you, but this whole ‘winter’ thing needs to just stop. It’s the first week of the new year, and I’m so over the snow and the cold and people complaining about the snow and the cold. All of it needs to stop. Pansy is a champ about it though. She has the best outerwear collection I’ve ever seen. She has coats, boots, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves that match every single outfit she wears. She also looks really gorgeous with a light dusting of snow in her hair, and her cheeks all rosy from the cold. Apologies, I’m rambling about my wife again.

2014, huh? I’m terrible with resolutions, so I don't bother making them anymore. However, Pansy and I are looking at moving into a new flat, one in Hogsmeade. Bigger closets, of course. I also wouldn’t mind a quieter place. Diagon Alley is convenient, but noisy. I also want to work on getting the SOUP staff in better shape. We’ve gotten lazy, and it is showing around our waistlines. It’s Nicole’s cookies, I swear. Despite my aversion to resolutions, for some people, the idea of starting fresh and trying to make this new year the best one really works. But, my advise is to change your habits. Don’t make sweeping changes all at once, start small with one single habit and expand on that over time. Walk before you run, so to speak. Baby Steps.

I really hope this is a good year for each and every one of you, but you can’t expect good things to just happen to you. You have to get out there, and make things happen. Remember, you aren’t alone. You’re a Slytherin, and we’re all right behind you, 100%. Hang in there, chin up, and keep smiling. This is a new year and anything is possible. Best of luck!

Until next month,

Dei
