Andromeda Tonks had taken her grandson Teddy outside the little cottage that they called home in the countryside. She wanted to show him the constellations and his family. Looking out, up at the night sky was Andromeda's way of staying connected to her family, even if they had disowned her. The witch had slightly repaired things with Narcissa as the War had changed them but most of her family, Draco and Lucius especially, would never allow her back into the family or Pureblood society.
She was laid back on a blanket as the stars had begun to twinkle in the sky when she heard a voice coming from somewhere near her. The middle Black daughter sat up and sighed, "Teddy... it's late and you should be asleep," she said but extended her arms out for her grandson.
"Are you saying hello to your family again?" the 5-year-old asked as he looked up at his grandmother. Andromeda sighed. Teddy was smarter than she'd ever give him credit for and she always failed to remember that as she looked at him.
Running a hand through Teddy's hair, Andromeda nodded, "Yes I am. I can speak to them out here and not have them answer back," she said with a chuckle and Teddy laughed. His laugh was so like his mother's and the grandmother felt sad for a few moments before she turned and saw Teddy looking up at a star.
"That's the constellation of Draco the Dragon. He's Aunt Narcissa's son," the metamorphic child said as he remembered that one. He always remembered that one for some reason and Andromeda could never understand why. "Why doesn't Aunt Narcissa have a constellation? I mean why is she not named after a star?" he asked, causing the witch to sigh.
"I really am not sure about that one darling," she said softly, "mother and father chose differently for Aunt Narcissa. She was always the favourite child of the three. Bella and I looked too similar. Now tell me, darling, which constellations can you see above us now?" she asked, desperate to leave the talk of siblings behind as painful memories threatened to engulf her.
Her mind began to swim of memories with her sisters before Bellatrix followed Voldemort, before she'd shattered the family and eloped with Ted. The darkness swam around her before she felt a small, light hand touching her arm. "What were you saying Teddy darling?" she had to ask before Teddy began to repeat what he'd been saying about a constellation he'd spotted and the relative who bore its name.
Andromeda smiled softly as she thought about her family, the good and the bad, but, as she looked up into the sky, she still felt the positive side and all those who believed the same she did were smiling down, no shining down, on her and her little Teddy.
