The Power of Love? What a joke. Does the "Great" Albus Dumbledore think that it was Lily Potter's love for her son that saved Harry from the killing curse? Does he really believe that no mother had given up their life in an attempt to save their child from Voldemort before?
I find it very hard to imagine that no mother fought as fiercely for their child's life, only to fail when Voldemort killed many families. You want me to believe that no mother stood in front of their child pleading for their life? No, Dumbledore's theory of Love being the answer is totally absurd. If it was accurate there would be many more "Boy (or Girl)-Who-Lived"s around then just Harry Potter.
Molly Weasley was said to be the ultimate mother of the series. Yet when her twins and Ron come and tell her that Harry's relatives were keeping bars on his windows she doesn't think a thing about it and later says Harry is as good as hers? Some love that is when she won't go against Dumbledore to get him out of his relative's house. That's nice, so he is hers on her terms. Maybe this is just me but I don't think that is love.
Then you have the more romantic love of Snape for Lily. That was obsession not love. He tormented a boy who never knew his parents because he loved his mother and hated his father. He didn't care what Lily wanted at all. He just wanted her to himself.
And don't get me started on Ginny. She was obsessed with Harry since she was 11 -before she ever even really talked to him. Even after that she only really talked to him when they were dating.
Yeah, definitely better off without love... at least in this series.
