SOUPerlatives
- By: Hannah "Professor Love" Abbott

February is a time for love. Valentine's Day gets into the heads of many. We at SOUP could have explored romantic love, platonic love, unconditional love, patriotic love, self-love, or any other sort of love. Thing is, we see a lot of that already, breaking things down into love categories to either be fitting to the holiday, fitting to how you feel or working to accommodate others. This month, we wanted to take a different approach. We have decided to explore the effect or power that love has. For this February's SOUPerlatives, I have taken characters that each of our writers love and found ways their love triumphed over evil. (Apologies but no canon characters are being used this time.) Perhaps you'll think about the same for your favorite characters.

+Luna Lovegood; her love for magical beings did many things including showing Dobby that he was a highly respected hero despite the hate surrounding him: paragonWizard

+George Weasley; Peeves loved having George around and showed this by promising to continue giving the evil Umbridge "hell": Ninja Kitten

+Fred Weasley; his death gave Molly that push to not let anything happen to her daughter, killing Bellatrix: Nicole Phelps

+Draco Malfoy; the love he had for himself retained his integrity and kept him from killing Dumbledore: Ragna Lokisdottir

+Bellatrix Lestrange; while perhaps a smaller triumph over evil Bellatrix's love for Voldemort helped him to occasionally overcome his issues with love by highly respecting her: Morgana Malipiero

+Nymphadora Tonks; her love for Remus allowed him to fight his inner demons and bring new life into the world with her: Hannah Abbott

+Narcissa Malfoy; out of love for Draco, she lied to the Voldemort, saving Harry and the Wizarding World: MalfoySwan

+Sirius Black; despite his self-doubt and being falsely pursued by the law, he took as much time as he could to be a much-needed father figure for Harry: SerenityBlack1981

+Severus Snape; his love for the memory of Lily motivated him to undermine Voldemort: Salazia

+Newt Scamander; he saved Frank, the Thunderbird from captivity due to his love and understanding of creatures: Armoracia

+Remus Lupin; inspired by their love for him, the other Marauders became animagi so that Remus would never have to face his fear alone: snakesnitch43

+Gilderoy Lockhart: his love for memory charms conveniently stopped him from getting in the way of Harry rescuing Ginny: snowleetah

+Hermione Granger; her platonic love for Harry prevented him from searching for Horcruxes alone, necessary for defeating Voldemort: Ilostmyleftshoe

Hope you discover the Power of Love,
Professor Love
