Mardi Gras. It might as well be synonymous with Alcohol Indulgence. One of my friends went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras one year. She came back and said the more beads (bead necklaces) you had, the more alcoholic drinks you got since the drinks come with beads. It was disgusting how many she came back with.
One of the most famous streets is Bourbon Street. Seeing as the theme is Mardi Gras I had the pleasure(?) of trying a shot of Bourbon. Biggest! Mistake! Ever! The taste wasn't bad, but the burning in my nose! Oh my Merlin! My eyes started tearing and I couldn't help but wonder why would anyone do that to themselves.
And then I thought back to my grandfather who always did a shot of Bourbon as a toast for every special occasion. I can't figure out how that was a good idea. I guess he really enjoyed the burning?
Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to invent such a painful drink. Did they really try it one day and feel the burning in their nose and go, "Oh this is a good idea to market,"?
Not to mention it was so alcoholic that the room spun when I did one shot. Yes I know that I am a lightweight but still. Which brings me back to my Mardi Gras point. Why would anyone try to get a ton of beads. Like do they enjoy the dizziness? How do they remember all the pretty floats if they are drowning in beads? Most importantly, why do they spend so much money to get a ton of beads and not remember anything?
Seriously, it is much cheaper to find the nearest wall and bash your head into it if you don't want to remember something. Ugh. I just can't even deal with the insanity. I just ... WHY!
