Letter From the Editor
By Deidra
Dear Slytherin, Okay, seriously, where did January go? Wasn't Christmas like...a week ago? Where did this month run off without me? My grand plan at keeping up with everything and being organized this year certainly isn't off to a good start. Pansy keeps dropping hints that it’s almost Valentines day, and after a glance at the calendar, she isn't kidding. Luckily, I already have an idea, which I’m keeping secret because she reads SOUP (Sorry, Sweetheart. You aren't getting the details early this year). That brings me right into the topic I want to talk about; Valentines Day.
Some people are very excited about the prospect of this romanticized holiday, however, quite a few people aren't. Those of us lucky enough to have a Valentine need to be considerate of those who don’t or those who simply dislike this holiday. Maybe treat your lonely single friend to a night out on the town or send them flowers so they feel special on that day. Or, single friends, have a night being your own valentine. Buy yourself flowers, chocolates, or treat yourself to your favorite dinner. Spoil yourself, you certainly deserve it for putting up with us twitterpated, lovestruck idiots.
For us cupid victims, make sure you spoil the socks of your Sweetheart. They deserve it for putting up with you, right? Right? Not every sweetheart is the same, figure out what their into, and make it extra specials. If they’re someone who doesn't like going out, treat them to a night in, or if they love to go dancing, take them dancing, yes, even if you hate dancing. Valentines Day is about showing how much you care.
Finally, for those of you who are asking someone out on a date that you aren't already in a relationship, or sending someone a singing valentine anonymously, good luck. Not that you need it, you sexy Slytherin, you.
Love and Kisses! -Dei
