Musical Treats
- Katie_slytherin

Hi there it's Katie_slytherin here...I mean *cough cough* Hi, I'm Aria and welcome to the Music Column.

This month's theme is about yuletide treats! As seen in the monthly playlist I submitted... I mean Katie_slytherin submitted the song 'Grandma's Killer Fruitcake'. Do you like fruitcake? Neither do I! Have I ever had fruitcake? No I have not, but the point is- Nobody likes fruitcake... except well, for the people who do like it. This song is a really fun and goofy song about grandma's killer fruitcake. Grandma makes it every year but everyone hates it! This song is very catchy and has become a holiday favourite of mine! I found out about this song when I was in piano class and I fell in love with it. Funny lyrics along with music that makes you want to get up and dance, you should listen to it now!

Let's take a look at some other classic holiday songs that talk about food.

"Now bring us some figgy pudding,
Now bring us some figgy pudding,
Now bring us some figgy pudding,
And a cup of good cheer."
(We Wish You a Merry Christmas)

"Hanukkah, oh Hanukkah, come light the menorah
Let's have a party, we'll all dance the hora
Gather round the table, we'll give you a treat
Dreidels to play with and latkes to eat"
(Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah)

"Here we come a-wassailing among the leaves so green;
Here we come a-wandering, so fair to be seen.
Love and joy come to you, and to you our wassail, too."
(The Wassail Song)

So many delicious treats to share with one another, the potluck this year will be grand! No matter which holiday you celebrate, where you live, or what traditions you may have, we can always come together and share the tradition of food. Maybe you bake cookies? Perhaps you always buy a pie from the grocery store? Maybe you honour your holiday by fasting? And along with food, across cultures, we also have music to celebrate whether it be upbeat pop, a traditional folk song, a religious hymn, or an instrumental arrangement, it's something we all have a connection with. So let us celebrate this holiday season and share with each other our unique yuletide treats and tunes. WIth all of our traditions combined together, we're going to have one amazing holiday party- it will certainly be a night to remember.

No matter where you live, what holiday you celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful time. Happy Holidays everyone, enjoy the season of magic and love <3 (Do you think they bought it? I think they did, no one is going to know that I, Katie_slytherin wrote this article mwuahahahaha)

Until someone re-emerges from their cave again, this is not a goodbye from your favourite pureblood Slytherin, it's a goodbye from Aria!
