'Twas the night before HEXmas
when all through the site
Not a student was stirring
not even prank fight;
The holiday trees were set up
by the profiles with care,
In hopes that Santa's DM soon would be there..."

The students were asleep, Katie up in her bed
While visions of feasting danced around in her head.
Kitten was snuggling with Kate and with Kay,
Who were sleeping and dreaming of the meal the next day.

I tried to stay asleep, but there was so much clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
It was still dark outside, was I awake is this real?
I crept downstairs to see Jojo prepping the meal.

Katie followed me down, the oven smelling sweet.
She wanted Jojo's cooking, it was such a treat!
But right away I could see the first challenge to sup
Jo couldn't find her angled measuring cup.

There was so much to cook, so much to bake,
How much alone can Jojo make?
"The meal will be ready in good time, you know."
Because Katie was already elbow-deep in dough.

The utensils she needed were not to be found.
She searched low and high, ceiling to ground.
"Where is my peeler?" Eyes darting everywhere.
Jojo said, "I took it, and put it over there."

Jojo had moved stuff. She had a plan.
But Katie couldn't find her favorite sauce pan.
Jojo was using it to make the sauce thicken.
And so began a synchronized dance in the kitchen.

The bowls started piling, the knives all were cutting.
The magic wands waving, the oven opening and shutting.
The water was boiling, the meat was basting,
My tummy was rumbling, the mouth needed tasting.

More rapid than accio the next day soon came,
Le snakes whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, MairMair! now, Hannah! now Adele and Cissy!
On, Luna! on, Callie! on, Erin and Whitney!
Down in the common room! To the great hall!
Now slither away! Slither away! Slither away all!"
As candy and wrapping paper began to fly,
The Quidditch studs found new brooms to mount to the sky;
So up to the castletops the Quidditch jocks flew
With shiny new brooms, and smiling faces too-
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of a small little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
A Hippogriff landed with a big crashing sound.
He was dressed up for Chirstmas, from his head to his foot,
And his paws were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had tied on his back,
And he looked like a reindeer who flew away from his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his spirit, how merry!
His feathers were painted, his beak like a cherry!
His tail was decorated with a festive bow,
Everything was perfect, he had all his ducks in a row
Then a booming voice shouted across the ground
" 'Ave any of yer seen Buckbeak around?!"
Are waved her hand who had a green bow in her hand
"We've found him, Hagrid, he's on the roof there!"
Soon Hagrid got the Hippogriff down
Before taking him over to the small local town
He walked off merrily, waving goodbye with a grin
As he continued oh the path while scratching his chin
And I heard him exclaim, as he walked out of sight—
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
